Message from Donnamarie Black, Parish Catechetical Leader

Dear Friends, Happy Father’s Day!

God, Our Father. Bless these men, that they may find strength as fathers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.

What a very special day it is today. Not only is it Father’s Day but also Trinity Sunday. On this Sunday, Christians

remember and honor the eternal God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Trinity Sunday is celebrated the

Sunday after Pentecost and lasts only one day, which is symbolic of the unity of the Trinity.

The word Trinity does not appear in the bible but the bible clearly speaks of God the Father, God the Son, and

God the Holy Spirit and it emphasizes that there is only ONE God. This is a mystery of our faith. The Holy Trinity

is a reality above our human comprehension. We may begin to grasp this concept but ultimately must know it

through worship, symbol, and faith.

Trying to understand this is difficult. You and I live in a three-dimensional world. All physical objects have a cer-

tain height, width, and depth. One person can look like someone else, or behave like someone else, or even sound

like someone else. But a person cannot actually be the same as another person. They are distinct individuals. God,

however, lives without the limitations of a three-dimensional universe. He is a spirit. And he is infinitely more

complex than we are.

I will present to you some of the ways this concept has been explained. In the hopes that one of these will help you

to have a better understanding.

* MATH: 1x1x1=1.

* H2O: water , ice, and steam. They are all different forms, each with their own jobs, but all are H 2O.

* SUN: From it, we receive light, heat, and radiation. Three distinct aspects, but only one sun.

Sit with these thoughts today as you pray to God for understanding.

God Bless,

Donnamarie Black

Stewardship

June 16, 2019 Stewards Listen The Most Holy Trinity Sunday

“But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth...” (J 16:13) Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us know and live the truth. To prepare ourselves, as Stewards we need to open our hearts to receive this gift before we can give it. Develop a daily prayer routine. Talk and listen to the Holy Spirit. This is best done in silence, when we can hear His response.

Family Reflection Corner

Weekly Readings Reflections The Most Holy Trinity

Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:

Plan a family picnic or other outing to celebrate

Trinity Sunday. The time together should help the family develop a feeling of love and security with-in your family. Such a time enables children to experience a glimpse of the love relationship as expressed in the Trinity.

As a family, take time to play a game that all en-joy. Talk about what you like about playing to-gether. How does playing together help to bring the family closer?

Gather together as a family and have each per-son tell one thing that they love most about the family. Provide each family member with a sheet of paper and pencil. Give the following instruc-tions: Write down one thing you can do this week to show your family that you love them as God loves them.

Would you be interested in memorializing a new Paschal Candle Holder and Altar Candles for St. Ann Church? If so please call Jon Delgado at the parish office 609.522.2709, x. 219

Holy Hour of Intercession The Youth and Young Adults Office at the Diocese of Camden requested that parishes come together in Intercessory Prayers for our youth. With so many daily distractions and temptations negatively affecting the mind, body, soul and spirit of our young people, it is important that we pray for healthy interactions and cor-rect moral values in their lives. We are therefore providing time each month when parishioners can come together to pray for all children and young adults, as well as all the intentions they hold in their hearts.

at 9:00 AM at Kelly Hall

Ways to be a Father like St. Joseph St. Joseph has long been seen as a role model for husbands and fathers. This is surprising for some people to learn. After all, Jesus’ true father is God the Father, and Joseph served as His foster father during His earthly minis-try. Yet, despite Joseph’s unconventional fatherhood, this holy man proved to be the best role model that husbands and fathers could ask for. This Father’s Day, if you are a father, we invite you to follow Joseph’s example of fatherhood in the following ways. If you are not a father, we ask you to join us in lifting up in prayer all those who fill the role of father. Practice Humility: What does this mean for fathers? It does not mean that fathers should take a lesser role in the lives of their families. On the contrary, we can infer that Joseph was an extremely devoted and involved parent in Jesus’ life. What it does mean, however, is that fathers can emulate Joseph’s humility. Joseph understood that he was given a special role in salvation history, namely, raising Jesus and protecting his family. Instead of looking for attention or rewards for this huge responsibility, he quietly accepted it and put in every effort to fulfill his role. Be Faithful:Joseph lived exactly the kind of faithfulness that God asked of him. Though this probably wasn ’t easy, he likely drew his strength and commitment from his devotion to God and his true love and respect for Mary. Teach Your Children: Joseph showed true investment in Jesus’ life by putting so much time and effort into teaching Him a trade. Fathers today should put in just as much effort to teach their children to earn a livelihood, understand the value of hard work, and put their God-given skills to use. Use your gifts to strengthen your family:Joseph’s foster son was fully God and fully man. His wife was born with-out original sin. He could have given up with the knowledge that he could never match either Jesus’ or Mary’s level of holiness. But Joseph did not do that. Instead, he took the hand he was dealt and figured out what he could do with it. God provided Joseph with the gifts he needed to protect and provide for his family. These included his skills as a worker, his humility, and his dedication to loving both Jesus and Mary deeply. Like Joseph, fathers can identify the gifts God has given them and use those gifts in a way that best serves their families. All men will not have the same gifts or abilities. But by careful reflection and honest spousal partnership, fathers can discern how they are called to serve their families.
