SCOTT RICHARDSONFebruary 13-18, Reception on the 14th from 6-9 pm

“Using combinations of realism and impressionism I striveto capture the subtle in hopes of creating somethingemotional and moving. The focus of my latest paintingsis to embark the visual experience that I have acquiredduring the many years of living in Utah and expressingthat with paint. Trying to evoke a somber, reflective, andweightily impression that may cause the viewer tohesitate, as it the painting has asked a question forwhich there is no immediate answer”.

Blending traditional subjects with modern designs, AndrewBolam infuses his bold, iconic paintings with a rare sensitivityand unexpected texture that begs a closer look. Rejectingsentimentality, Andrew pursues nobler themes and profoundconcepts. His paintings are not merely pretty, but ratherstrikingly handsome canvases that, displaying depth andnuance, are elevated into fine art.A gifted draftsman and endlessly creative, Andrew hasdeveloped a host of techniques which allow the freedom tofully explore concepts and ideas without being limited by arigid approach. These arresting paintings are an insightful commentary onthe cultural heritage of the great American West, its history, people, landscape and architecture.

“My winter show this year will tell the full history of theAmerican Indian wars. Beginning in the 1600’s with ChiefEagle Plume, who fought the British of James Town and ending in the late 1800’s with the Oglala Souix Chief CrazyHorse and his famous victory at Little Big Horn. I traveledto South Dakota this summer to hear the Lakota historyfrom the Oglala Souix themselves. All this research hashelped me put together what I think will be some of my mostexciting works to date”.

SIMON WINEGARMarch 6-11, Reception on the 7th from 5-8 pm

“I have done artwork for as long as I can remember; I havebeen painting professionally for about ten years. In thebeginning I was very concerned with what others though ofmy paintings, later I was preoccupied with what the “experts”thought of my work. Slowly this preoccupation has shifted. In recent years I have become more concerned with what Ithink of my work. I feel like I have begun an introspectivejourney that places importance on truth. This includes beingtrue to myself, my work and also to the moods and ideas thatI consider worth of my attention. The world is made up of opposites, each pulling in separatedirections. My most recent focus is to balance theseopposites, to manipulate them visually so that they produceharmony. Since true harmony is individual, I introduce myversion of it to you”.

“Most of my paintings are from research I have obtained fromArtist Ride held in South Dakota. I have tried to capture theromantic flavor ot the Old West which is uniquely American. It is an era that is familiar and fascinating to me. The possibleimages and stories of the West are endless and challenging. These images have stirred my imagination and inspired me topaint. I hope that this is apparent in my upcoming show inMarch”.
