Why will not it spread, in the same way as large companies?

In Japan, domestic handicraft was developed from the Edo period

Since the Meiji era, large enterprises have been emerging by promoting industrial policy.

The government has also protected overseas expansion of large enterprises.

On the other hand, small companies have completed the structure to supply raw materials and parts to large companies

, As Subcontractors.

In fact, central government get success in several progressive project by collaboration with large-scale enterprise.

local government cordinate various regional sector and try to solute the regional social problem.

Therefore, we support SME’s IoT Introduction.

Local IoT Accerelation Lab Project

Start simple, cheap and small! For example, start with: • Visualization only • Low cost devices (smartphone, RFID tag) • Little by little (not all at once)

Concept: Osaka’s initiative for finding optimal IoT for SMEs = "IoT Lean Start!”

Supporting Members: Osaka Prefecture, Public laboratories, Industrial Support Organizations, Higashiosaka City, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Resona Bank

IoT Matching

• Introduce suitable system integrators

1st step: Remove the 3 main obstacles (no idea how to use IoT, don’t know what the benefit is, lack of IT HR)

Create a network of SMEs who used our IoT diagnosis and IoT matching services • Presentation of case studies (SME x IoT) at seminars • Facilitate mutual learning and further utilization of IoT

2nd step: develop IoT ecosystem in Osaka

IoT Lean Start: named after Silicon Valley’s

'Lean Startup‘ method of starting with minimum operation

IoT Lean Start Seminar • Explain “Lean Start” concept • Give information about IoT

and about our support

Remove obstacles! Find optimal IoT for SMEs!

IoT Diagnosis

• Gemba visit and analysis by certified management consultants

Management, Back Office

Effectiveness of using IoT

Work

Movement Work

10 to 20%

Waste (easy to remove)

Waste in equipment

Waste in operation

Work with added value

← SCM ordering / purchase Shipping, Charging EC,CRM →

10 to 20% There are so many Waste in all Works (so you know,) Kaizen(lean) is effective in all processes (within the limit of facilities) Visualization by IoT leads to further hints & ideas for kaizen → Reduce waste → reduce further waste and improve productivity

ERP, EDI, RPA, etc. various systems

IoT is effective Operational status monitor → Discover waste → Solutions

Neccesary! Equipment update Training

Monitoring, taking notes manually, etc. → Waste

Meny excellent SMEs in Osak and arround Osaka, Kansai

24-hour unmanned operation

by CAD/CAM, CNC-machine and Network

Advanced system! As an example of the service industry

= reservation system

= keyless entry system

= revenue & yield system

Staff focus on hospitality service Where can I find a good restaurant?

Where can I pick up a taxi?

Time-consuming tasks

done by systems

Ex. 2:Super Hotel

2018/4/10 Osaka Pref.Gov. JAPAN 10

• Turret punch press and laser processing manufacturer

• Forgetting spot welding location → create many extra work for recovery

• Set up counters for spot parts

• Use Arduino, electromagnetic sensors and other parts available in the market

• Outsourcing the circuit design and case,

Assemble and sell to other companies

IoT Unit with Arduino

Ex.5:Kashihara Instrument Industry

• Manufacturer of digital meters and hybrid meters for water → no. 1 market share in Japan • Remote measurement, no need for reading meters on site • Monitoring system for the operation of factories → improve productivity This is “Lean” assisted by osakaindustrial college at the starting.

2018/4/10 Osaka Pref.Gov. JAPAN 12

• Mold manufacturer

• Strict implementation of Kaizen actions and 3S

• Found various “muda” in the company’s large documentation system

• Press working and brazing in furnace

• Developed a measuring unit "Logbee" for temperature, humidity and CO2

from cooperative project with Mie Prefecture Agricultural Research Center

• Product with network equipment. Develop sales channels with WEB.

• Usage (it has waterproof function!):

Humidity control for concrete curing / Monitoring system in the field / Food factory

• Converted to a current sensor, monitoring of the equipment in a factory

Ex. 7:Chitose Industry Co., Ltd.

2018/4/10 Osaka Pref.Gov. JAPAN 14

Maximize! president's sales force and work efficiency

2018/4/10 Osaka Pref.Gov. JAPAN 15

Ex. 9:Service Robot

Softbank Pepper Receptionist at trade fairs, offices, etc.

“吉野屋” YOSHINOYA “CORO” Beef Bowl chain store Washing and putting away bowls

Mental care robot "Pumpkin“ Focused on the sense of touch of the robot and narrowed down its functions Achieved low price

Strange Hotel (NAGASAKI) Dinosaur robot receptionist IoT garbage box self-runs

2018/4/10 Osaka Pref.Gov. JAPAN 16

1. Introduction of IoT has just begun in Osaka

2. Excellent enterprises already use various advanced system (IT)

3. Kaizen or Lean Management and IoT
