Start simple, cheap and small! For example, start with: • Visualization only • Low cost devices (smartphone, RFID tag) • Little by little (not all at once)
Concept: Osaka’s initiative for finding optimal IoT for SMEs = "IoT Lean Start!”
Supporting Members: Osaka Prefecture, Public laboratories, Industrial Support Organizations, Higashiosaka City, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Resona Bank
IoT Matching
• Introduce suitable system integrators
1st step: Remove the 3 main obstacles (no idea how to use IoT, don’t know what the benefit is, lack of IT HR)
Create a network of SMEs who used our IoT diagnosis and IoT matching services • Presentation of case studies (SME x IoT) at seminars • Facilitate mutual learning and further utilization of IoT
2nd step: develop IoT ecosystem in Osaka
IoT Lean Start: named after Silicon Valley’s
'Lean Startup‘ method of starting with minimum operation
IoT Lean Start Seminar • Explain “Lean Start” concept • Give information about IoT
and about our support
Remove obstacles! Find optimal IoT for SMEs!
IoT Diagnosis
• Gemba visit and analysis by certified management consultants

Management, Back Office
Effectiveness of using IoT
Work
Movement Work
10 to 20%
Waste (easy to remove)
Waste in equipment
Waste in operation
Work with added value
← SCM ordering / purchase Shipping, Charging EC,CRM →
10 to 20% There are so many Waste in all Works (so you know,) Kaizen(lean) is effective in all processes (within the limit of facilities) Visualization by IoT leads to further hints & ideas for kaizen → Reduce waste → reduce further waste and improve productivity
ERP, EDI, RPA, etc. various systems
IoT is effective Operational status monitor → Discover waste → Solutions
Neccesary! Equipment update Training
Monitoring, taking notes manually, etc. → Waste
