Spring 2015 Graduate Course Announcement

Project Management Systems Course Information:

Class Time: W 6:30 - 9:15 PM Location: North Classroom Credits: 3

Description: This course explores the fundamentals of the International Standard supported by the Project Management institute’s (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge. Using a range of case studies and project work, the course prepares students for PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification tests. Pre-requisite:

None. Course Organization: Students read assignments prior to class so they are prepared to discuss concepts during class. Quizzes are given weekly and cover discussed material. Learning Objectives:

• Address the basic nature of managing projects and the advantages and disadvantages to this approach

• Introduce the characteristics, techniques, and problems associated with initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closeout of projects

• Develop a management perspective about projects to help develop future project managers
