• Create amodern and flexible children’s playroomalongside other managed play facilities to provide adiverse and financially sustainable offer for childrenandfamilieswithinabeautifulparksetting.• Todesign andbuild changing facilities to FootballFoundationstandards,whichsupporttheuseofthepark,areneartothefootballpitchesandcreateapositivevisualimpact.

Thediscussionswehadwithlocalstakeholdershaveshapedthestrategyfortheparkandthecommon.Theupdatedproposalsbasedonthisfeedbackarepresentedheretoday.

Yousaid:Retain the 5-a-side football pitch next to the Adventure Playground at its current size.

Newplan:Retainthepitchinitsentirety.

Yousaid:Ensure the future of the facilities in the park. In times of reduced funding to run park facilities, we don’t want empty buildings in the park in the future

Newplan:By co-locating the Playroom with the AdventurePlayground, the facilitiescanhavemoreflexibleuse.More space, toilets, storage and office space can bemade available to groups by sharing the facilitiesbetweenthePlayroomandtheAdventurePlayBuildingandbetterusedthroughout thedaybyawiderrangeof users. The co-location of the buildings offers thepotentialforthefacilitiestobehiredouttoarangeofusers offering opportunities to ensure a sustainablefuturefortheparkfacilities.

Yousaid:Move the unsightly recycling bins and car park to a less prominent position.

Newplan:Carparktoberelocatedtothe‘mound’ontheadjacentpartofthepark.

Yousaid:The play area next to the café suffers from flooding and gets slippery from the wet leaves in winter. The play area should be relocated and should be larger than the existing play area.

Newplan:Newplayareatoberelocatedtotheexistingcar parkwhich reflects the importanceofPeckham Rye Park and Common to thelocalareaandtheborough.Fitforpurposeequipment to be provided, to include anelementofwaterplayand,ifpossible,sandplay.
