GRAPHIC DESIGN WILL SAVE THE WORLD RIGHT AFTER ROCK AND ROLL DOES

The Pier at Town Lake design concept
book was designed to enhance the
unique arid land quality of Arizona and
the iconic sense of place, crafting a color
pallette that portrayed the project site
and the local culture.

Design principles are the elements that
not only make up the design, but give
it life. The use of surrounding elements
allows the project to naturely blend in
with its enviroment. The purpose of this
book is to show color schemes, textures,
and shapes that will be used in the
project, to allow a seemless blend
between hardscape and landscape.

Bodoni is the name given to a series of
serif typefaces first designed by
Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813) in 1798.
The typeface is classified as didone modern.
Bodoni followed the ideas of John Baskerville, as
found in the printing type Baskerville, that
of increased stroke contrast and a more vertical,
slightly condensed, upper case, but taking them
to a more extreme conclusion. Bodoni's typeface
has a narrower underlying structure with flat,
unbracketed serifs. The face has extreme
contrast between thick and thin strokes, and
an overall geometric construction.

Typography Posters
This project was an examination of how
typefaces can be used to be their own
graphic elements. The task was to use
only one typeface and its family to
create a design lecture series poster.

Military Display PostersClient: 62nd Engineer Battalion
While I was deployed, I volunteered
my design skills to create informational
graphics and posters to be used in
the Battalions area of operation. These
graphics were used to promote espirit de
corps, awareness, and pride for the unit.

T-ShirtClient: 62nd Engineer Battalion
These graphic t-shirts were designed to bring
motivation and espirit de corps to the deployed
Soldiers of the Battalion. They were able to be
worn underneath the service uniform and still be
within Army regulation.

Garrison T-ShirtClient: 62nd Engineer Battalion
The graphic t-shirts shown here were for
the Soldiers of the 62nd Engineer Battalion
stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. They were
used to motivate the Soldiers on and
off post. The design of the shirt used the
Battalions crest as its center piece along
with the Battalion motto. It was important
to keep the design within todays military
style fashion, so that the shirts could be
used in everyday activities.

The spirit of this project is a result of the
development teams ability to craft a
twenty-first century township that complements
the historical features of Waikoloa and the
neighboring communities. This unique urban
planning approach will help craft a flexible
village center for future growth.
