HISTORICAL BACKGROUND :- It’s a GOVT. OF INDIA ENTERPRISES.
Discovered by G.S.I (Geographical Survey of India) in 1954.
Exporting mining by I.B.M (Indian B of Mines) in 1957.
Project handled over to N.M.D.C (National Mines and Development Corporation ) in 1961.
N.M.D.C transformed to H.C.L (Hindustan Copper Limited ) in NOV, 1967.
MAIN COMPONANTS OF H.C.L :-
1) Mining Section.
2) Concentrator Plant.
3) Smelter Plant.
4) Refinery.
5) Mine’s Machining Repairing Shop.
6) Gas Turbine.
7) Telephone Exchange.
COPPER MINING :-
Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the earth, usually in form of ore.
INSTRUMENTS USED :-
Underground battery-electric locomotives.

UNDERGROUND BATTERY-ELECTRICLOCOMOTIVES
These run on 320 V DC traction lead-acid batteries which are usually recharged inside a depot.
They are used for hauling materials and equipment and were specially designed and built to work in narrow mines.
LIFT SYSTEM : - Lift system is basically
controlled by STEPPER MOTOR.
HCL has the asia’s 2nd largest STEPPER MOTOR.
A cage is connected to STEPPER MOTOR with the help of steel ropes.
Cage is lowered into various shafts inside the earth.
STEPPER MOTOR
A STEPPER MOTOR is a special DC Motor which can be run in both forward and reverse directions.
The main advantage of the motor is that, it can be stopped at any instant, which is not possible in the normal DC Motors.
A motor controller might include a manual or automatic means for starting and stopping the motor, selecting forward or reverse rotation, selecting and regulating the speed & torque, and protecting against overloads and faults.
Mine :-
• Depth – 370 m.• Ore is crushed inside the mine Aprox.
150 mm.• One surge tank is also situated inside the
mine which use to store the copper ore.• Process:- COPPER ORE LODDER
MACHING CRUSHING(150MM) SURGE TANK OUTSIDE THE MINE
CONCENTRATORo IT IS A PROCESS OF EXTRACTING
MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF COPPER ORE FROM THE ROCKS i.e TO INCREASE THE CONCENTRATION OF ORE.
INSTRUMENT USED IN CRUSHING :
THE NUT-CRACKERS, ROLLING-MILL, AND GRINDSTONE.—PRESSURE OF ATMOSPHERE.—SEED DIBBLES AND DRILLS

AIM IS TO PROCESS THE CONCENTRATE INPUT –COPPER CONC.(27-28%) OUTPUT-ANODE COPPER (99.5%)

FLASH FURNACE.
CONVERTER.
DRYER.
ANODE FURNACE.
