The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programat Boone County Hospital is designed

to assist persons diagnosedwith chronic lung disease.

The program is certified by theAmerican Association of

Cardiovascular and PulmonaryRehabilitation.

Participants learn how to increase orenhance their quality of life throughexercise, education and support.

During the 12 week course, physicians,nurses and staff work with participantsindividually to achieve their goals.

To participate in this programa patient must have:

� A specific diagnosis of lungdisease

� A physician’s referral� A pulmonary stress test (sixminute walk)

� A current physical examination� Lab work� An initial interview

ExerciseThe start andcontinuation ofexercisecontrols oralleviates thesymptoms ofrespiratoryimpairment.Boone County Hospital’s exerciseprogram consists of instruction andparticipation. Individualized exerciseprograms are developed and mayinclude the use of:� Warm-up and stretching� Strengthening exercises� Relaxation techniques� A treadmill� A stationary bike� An arm ergometer� A pulse oximeter� Cardiac monitors� Therabands� A NuStep� Stairs

EducationInformation sessions are held ingroups and on an individual basis.
