Islamia Girls College, Malerkotla was founded by Padam Shree Janab Muhammad Izhar Alam, IPS; DGP (Retd.), Punjab when he assumed the office of Chairman, Punjab Wakf Board, Chandigarh (an organ of Department of Home Affairs, Punjab). This college caters to the educational needs of the girl students of Malerkotla and its neighboring areas in general and Muslims in particular. This college is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala. The college offers instructions in the subjects of English, Punjabi, Urdu, History, Political Science, Economics, Psychology, Physical Education in Humanities and Computer Application for BCA and PGDCA courses.

The college has a highly dedicated, qualified and dynamic faculty who has taken to teaching profession with a missionary zeal.

The college has a building with spacious classrooms,

Computers Lab; Psychology Lab; upcoming library etc. The fee structure is genuine and flexible.
