STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR OUR FOUNDATION'S FUTURE

"BHAG" BIG, HAIRY, AUDACIOUS GOAL

On July 19, 2017, the Board of Directors held a half-day strategic planning session.The purpose of this planning session was to revisit the goals of the Foundation and to establish a plan of action for the next two to ten years. After a great four-hour session, the board agreed on one "BHAG" (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal) long-term goal (8-10 years) and an ongoing short-term (1-3 years) work plan.

- Work with City on all aspects of MacArthur Park *New Intergenerational Community and Aquatics Center and Park *Play a key role in development and fundraising

ONGOING WORK PLAN Short-Term Goals (1-3 years)

PARK IMPROVEMENTS - Complete fundraising goals for “Its Child’s Play” playground project (renovate 5 playgrounds in 5 parks) *Jackson Park and Northmont Park – Complete *Vista La Mesa Park – Complete *La Mesita Park – (fundraising complete) *Collier Park – (fundraising complete)

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - Increase awareness of parks and programs - Increase membership and seek strong committee leadership - Present 1-2 times annually to Council - Develop strong community partnerships with businesses - Grow “Expand the Parks” Program (free fun community events)

FUNDRAISING - Expand La Mesa Rocks and Cornhole Fundraisers - Annual Campaign - Research grant and other funding opportunities
