General Functions of Biochemical Saturated fats tends to increase blood

cholesterol levels. Contains sources of energy.

Functions of Saturated Fats

Saturated fats are needed for energy, hormone production, cellular membranes and for organ padding.

Why I would be a great parent

Saturated fat is found mostly in meat and dairy products.

Solid at room temperatures.

Where in the body?

Are found in dairy products so they enter the body when consumed.

Fat serves as the storage substance for the body's extra calories. It fills the fat cells.

Favorite Places

Effects on the Body Fats supply fatty acids, which are not

made by the body and must be obtained from food.

Eating too much saturated fat is one of the major risk factors for heart disease.
