Seam welding :

. Resistance seam welding is a variant of the basic

resistance spot welding process. In spot welding a weld nugget is produced by passing an electric current through the sheet materials to be welded while they are held together under a mechanical force between shaped copper electrodes in a lap configuration.

Seam welding Quality check1) Follow the recommended practice as

per Instruction manual of jaya hind sciaky limited.

2) Visual inspection a) Straightness of seam welding.3) Test to insure the quality of seam. a) Tear down test . b) pillow test.

Referring instruction manual as shown above for this case of 0.8 mm thickens sheet material we are considering 10 nose of nuggets in 25 mm length.

We are optimized the acceptable seam welding quality by controlling the following parameter : 1. Welding current. 2. Electrode force. 3. Squeeze, Heat and cool timings. 4. Welding speed.

1) Visual inspection We are insuring the straightness of seam

welding end cover and longitudinal seam welding.

3) Test to insure the quality of seam. a) Tear down test : By setting correct parameter

we go for tear test . One sheet is clamp to the vise jaw and other sheet is pulled.

B) Pillow test : Two square sheet of 0.8mm is seam weld along the edge with adapter at center . Then air at pr. Of 0.3 kg/cm 2. is filled into the sheet through adapter result into the swelling of sheet , Then go for leakage test.
