Destination

Selous Game Reserve is the world's largest game reserve, 11,512 sq miles (29,816 sq km), established c.1900. It is located in the Rufiji River basin and includes grasslands and forests. It is a true wilderness with no artificial game management. Although the majority (90%) of the reserve is set aside for hunting concessions, endangered animals such as Painted Hunting Dogs & Black Rhino are excluded from hunting and only the old or infirm of other species can be taken. The revenues generated from this pay towards the protection of the Reserve from poachers and towards endangered species conservation projects (Save the Rhino).
