A GREENER FUTURE

Done by : ABIGAIL(5C), NATASHA(5B), ALLYSHA(5C) ,

SHIFA(5C)

What is Global Warming?

• Caused by increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, <Eg: Deforestation, burning of fossil fuels.>

The effects of Global Warming!

• Sea levels will rise therefore submerging low lying areas and cities.

• More frequent, unpredictable occurrences of extreme weather events • Eg: heat waves, droughts, heavy rainfalls.

• Ice bergs will melt and animals need to migrate

Why are we concern with environment conservation?

• Mother Earth is the only place we can live in. • Environment pollution a problem that we can prevent by

promoting awareness. • We want to MAKE A DIFFERENCE and want to

encourage our schoolmates too!

• Environment Education is our school’s niche area

Possible Ideas on raising environmental awareness

Create a documentary on what is happening to our

Earth.

Start a weekend Flea market and invite the neighbourhood to hold garage sale in our school.

Invite people around our neighbourhood to give us things that

they no longer need for recycling.

Expand on the idea of

Earth Hour

Why We Choose To Expand on Earth Hour...

• Utility bills of AGPS is high. • This is a simple yet a continuous and more pervasive

effort by pupils of our school. • It has minimal distraction to lessons and programmes

in the school. • We want our school to be more eco friendly. • When we leave the school next year we want the

school to continue with the efforts of this project. • We can help the school by decreasing energy

consumption . • As a school, we can learn how to conserve energy. • Everyone who participates is playing a part of saving

mother earth.

Snapshots of some classes that haven taken part in our project

• Step 1 : We will post the utility bills on the broadcast system (TV) when it is available

• Step 2 : At the end of the project, we will do a presentation to the whole school on the outcomes of our project.

What we have learnt…

This is Abigail Sng’s reflection!

“I felt very happy because I can help the school to save the environment. I hope everyone will continue to save the Mother Earth and not just during Earth Hour. Also, I hope the practice will be carried on and become a habit in our school. Thank You!”

This is Allysha’s reflection!

“I think we did a great and excellent job. We would like to say a big thank you to Ms Tang and Mr Kumar for helping us with this project.”

This is Natasha reflection!

“By doing this project, we hope we have helped Anchor Green Primary School to reduce the utility bills. We also would like to say a big thank you to our Anchor Green Primary School students for cooperating with us throughout this time. I think all of us did an excellent job!”

This is Shifa’ reflection!

“It has been a joyful participating in the eco-friendly programme. We have put in a lot of effort in this project and we know many of our school mates have been diligently switching off lights or fans daily during this period of time. This project would not have been a success without their support.”
