What is Global Warming?

• Caused by increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, <Eg: Deforestation, burning of fossil fuels.>

Page 3: Sin eng-20 - greener future

The effects of Global Warming!

• Sea levels will rise therefore submerging low lying areas and cities.

• More frequent, unpredictable occurrences of extreme weather events • Eg: heat waves, droughts, heavy rainfalls.

• Ice bergs will melt and animals need to migrate

Page 4: Sin eng-20 - greener future

Why are we concern with environment conservation?

• Mother Earth is the only place we can live in. • Environment pollution a problem that we can prevent by

promoting awareness. • We want to MAKE A DIFFERENCE and want to

encourage our schoolmates too!

• Environment Education is our school’s niche area

Page 5: Sin eng-20 - greener future

Possible Ideas on raising environmental awareness

Create a documentary on what is happening to our

Earth.

Start a weekend Flea market and invite the neighbourhood to hold garage sale in our school.

Invite people around our neighbourhood to give us things that

they no longer need for recycling.

Expand on the idea of

Earth Hour

Page 6: Sin eng-20 - greener future

Why We Choose To Expand on Earth Hour...

• Utility bills of AGPS is high. • This is a simple yet a continuous and more pervasive

effort by pupils of our school. • It has minimal distraction to lessons and programmes

in the school. • We want our school to be more eco friendly. • When we leave the school next year we want the

school to continue with the efforts of this project. • We can help the school by decreasing energy

consumption . • As a school, we can learn how to conserve energy. • Everyone who participates is playing a part of saving

mother earth.

What we have learnt…

This is Abigail Sng’s reflection!

“I felt very happy because I can help the school to save the environment. I hope everyone will continue to save the Mother Earth and not just during Earth Hour. Also, I hope the practice will be carried on and become a habit in our school. Thank You!”

This is Shifa’ reflection!

“It has been a joyful participating in the eco-friendly programme. We have put in a lot of effort in this project and we know many of our school mates have been diligently switching off lights or fans daily during this period of time. This project would not have been a success without their support.”
