CVC: cat, dig – one vowel in the middle making the short vowel sound.

CV, CCV: Open Syllable me, the – when a word ends with one vowel, it usually makes the long vowel sound.

CVCe: Silent E take, hike -when a word ends in silent e, the vowel between the consonants is usually long.

VCCV: like/unlike consonants car/rot, tur/key . If a word has two consonants in the middle, divide between the two consonants.

* When a consonant digraph stands between two vowels, divide the syllables before

or after the digraph.
