• I protection category of exceptional significance for

Republic Serbia

•Established in 2001

•It spreads along the Danube from 1367. to 1433. km

of his stream

•It makes up a natural whole with the right bank, an

inundated area Kopački rit in Baranja - Croatia and

inundated area Karapandža in Hungary

•SNR”Gornje podunavlje” consist of two groups of

marshes – Apatin marshes and Monoštor marshes

•Total area is 19 605 ha of forests, meadows, ponds,

marshes, including Danube and sidearms

The reserve represents a

complex mosaic of water and

land ecosystems. The greater

part of the reserve is covered

by marshy, inundated forest

complexes. This type of

preserved indigenous biotopes

is very rare both in our country

and Europe.

• During the past two centuries antropogen soil draining coused disappearance of marshes.

• 1960. dike construction drastically changed watter regime and endanger existence of

Danube marshes.

• SNR ‘Gornje Podunavlje' is an important center of biodiversity. The wealth of this biodiversity

is reflected in a great number of plant and animal species.

•Conversion alohchthonous to autochthonous forests ( 400

ha for next 10 years)

•Revitalization of nature habitats

•“Children of Gornje podunavlje” – education
