Parishioner receives international architecture award. This past week, Julian Norman Webb, parishioner and architect of our beautifully designed church, received the 2014 Religious Art and Architecture Award for Religious Architecture Renovation from the International Awards Program for Religious Art & Architecture.
Julian dedicated this award to St. Thomas More Parish
and to Fr. Don Henry who was “...a well-loved pastor and Father, in both the true sense of the word and liturgical. It was an emotional project as it was, and is, our home church/parish. It also allowed me to launch my individual career and practice, so for this church to give me that opportunity; I am very grateful.”

The St. Thomas More Quilters thank all who bought items at their recent sale. Many thanks to those who contributed baby items for our layette shower; & to the Crafty Ladies for their contributions of knitted items.
At the shower, The Quilters gave the items to representatives from Our Mother’s House in Venice and Catholic Charities in Arcadia. They also presented checks to: Fr. Joe for the 2015 Catholic Faith Appeal, Andie from Catholic Charities in Arcadia, Rita and
Mary from Our Mother’s House and Deacon Kevin McKenney for Bethesda House. Deacon Kevin also received two quilts for Casa San Jose Mission. Fr. Joe was kind enough to give a blessing for our work.

getINVOLVED:
The future of our church is in good hands. This story is just one of many examples of how blessed we are to have fruitful teenagers at our church:
Last week I was at the church for a Girl Scout meeting when a member of the Women’s Club came over looking for help because they weren’t able to get the projector working for their presentation.
After trying a few things with no luck, I asked if a member of the Youth Ministry would know how to fix it. Tom got hold of a student named Matt and I am not even sure what Matt was doing at the time but he stopped and walked to the church to fix what was wrong!
When I left the church after our meeting was over, Matt was still there making sure
everything was going smoothly. As I walked home with my 4 kids, my heart was warmed because I know that my children see this kindness in all the teenagers at our church.
My children look up to these amazing souls: these teenagers who play with them, who give up their seats at Mass, who help where ever they are needed, who collect food for the poor, who come early to Mass and stay late, who volunteer their time, talent and treasure, who encourage us with their stories and bring hope into our lives.
These young people are my kids’ role models and I am thankful for that. These teenagers truly allow Jesus to shine through them in all they do.
