DESCRIPTION

This is my teaching metaphor for how I see myself as a teacher. A guide for all those who depend on me who are out exploring or resting on the shore.

TRANSCRIPT

Teaching is like Being a lighthouse to me. Standing up front and tall For all my students to see.

Guiding their way Making sure they all stay clear, Of obstacles up ahead There is no need to fear.

I will help lead my students way But let each make their own path We can get through this together We can all do the math.

Figuring our coordinates Finding where we stand Forward in the dark or light Apart or hand in hand.

There are so many directions Out in the wide open sea So much room for growth So many places to go, to be.

Take any course you like Explore from shore to shore Always remembering where You’ve seen your lighthouse before.

From ship to shore you will travel Exploring the grounds you may Finding your own direction Gaining knowledge everyday.

Knowing I stand sturdy on the rocks Never changing where I am You can always come back to find me I will guide you the best I can.

Watching you all from a distance Or seeing you on my shore The accomplishments you have made Hopefully have you wanting more.

I will do my best to guide you Shining my light far or near Anyway I can help out I will always be here.

Each knowing what to expect Knowing we will soon be parting ways Support is what is needed Through the good and the bad days.

So if my students run into a problem You only see fog up ahead Look for the light to show you A way out of the fog instead.
