Welcome to Week 8.
What a very special time we enjoyed with our Kindergarten students and their “special person” today! A big thank you to Mrs Wiencke and Mrs Pidgeon for organising this special event in the Kindergarten’s school calendar. The children were so proud to show their ‘special person’ their classroom, their amazing school work and artworks and it was great to be able to perform for them!
Our Helpers’ morning tea will be held this Friday at 11.15am. This is a small gesture to acknowledge the time and support that our parents and community members have put into our school programs throughout the year. A big thank you to you all – to our Scripture teachers, Reading Tutors, sports coaches and transporters, classroom helpers, excursion helpers and guest speakers - you all help to enrich the lives of our students and the assistance that you give is greatly appreciated by the staff and the children.
I hope you enjoy the week!
Regards, Lyn Barnes Principal.

Last Wednesday the 28th November West Wyalong Public School was lucky enough to have Jessica Smith come and talk to our students. Jessica is an author, speaker, Para-Olympian and Cosmopolitan’s Woman of the Year. She was the guest speaker at our Women In Need of Sanity (WINOS) P and C fundraiser last term. Jessica read her book, “Little Jessica Goes to School”, to Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 students before discussing her time as a Para-Olympian swimmer and what makes each of us different. The Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students then learnt about her successes and setbacks as a swimmer. Jessica showed all our students how she ties her shoelaces, does her hair and paints her nails with nail polish. Students were able to hold her medals and see the Olympic torch she carried in Grafton in the year 2000. Thank you so much Jessica for visiting our school and inspiring our students.
