Word Study -SOL focus:5.8j Use correct spelling.5.4c Use knowledge of roots to determine the meaning of new words.

Students received new words in class today. Homework:Monday- Sort and write wordsTuesday - Sort words. Then organize the words in ABC order under each header. Finally, write the words in ABC order in the notebookWednesday- Write each of your words in a complete sentence. Remember all sentences begin with a capital letter and end with the correct punctuation marks. Underline the spelling word. Make sure your sentences make sense.Thursday - Remember vowels are a, e, i, o , u, and sometimes y. Sort and write your words.  Once you have written you words, circle all vowels red!Friday - No homework

Reading -SOLs:5.5 f Identify genre5.5c Describe Character Development (Character Traits)5.5j Make inferences about character traits5.5 m Use reading strategies (make confirm, and revise predictions)On Monday, students were introduced to their new novel study. Other reading activities for this week include reading to improve fluency, using context to clarify the meaning of unfamiliar words, and finding  the theme of a story.Homework: Read 20 minutes each night. Check agenda each night for additional assignments.
