The Šibenik singing association 'Kolo' and the Symphony orchestra of the Armed forces of the Republic of Croatia will perform 'The Queen Symphony' composed by Tolga Kashif in honour of the celebrating city
8To mark the 950th an-niversary, St. Michael’s
Fortress, Šibenik singing association 'Kolo' and the Symphony orchestra of the Armed forces of the Repub-lic of Croatia are preparing a special performance: "The Queen Symphony"! On this occasion, the premiere per-formance of "The Queen Symphony" is to be held on June 10 on St. Michael’s Fortress in Šibenik. This is
AUTHOR enA milAn
a masterpiece of composer Tolga Kashif inspired by the songs of the popular group Queen, such as "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You", "We Are the Champi-ons" and "Who Wants to Live Forever".
The symphony to be perfor-med by the Symphonic wind or-chestra OSRH is mostly instru-mental with casual, very power-ful and distinct choir parts. This will be a completely different
approach from anything that ‘Kolo’ has ever performed un-til now, and the Šibenik audien-ce will see them in a somewhat unusual edition. Besides the "The Queen Symphony", "Kolo" will start with some compositi-ons of the group "Queen" in cho-ral performance. The reason for the choice of such a program is the 70th anniversary of the birth of Freddy Mercury which is be-ing mentioned and celebrated by the entire music world this year.
Tickets in saleTickets for "The Queen
Symphony" concert can be bought at all sale venues, ticket offices of St. Micha-el’s Fortress in Šibenik and Barone (every day form 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.), in the Event system at www.eventim.hr and at all Event sale ve-nues (Tisak kiosks and Pe-trol petrol stations) and also at www.croatia-tickets.com at the price of 100 kunas.

TaximeTre's running
AUTHOR IVAN KAŠTELAN & VLADO OZRETIĆ
Split has joined the community of 450 world cities with Uber, a mobile service which causes regular taxi prices to drop wherever it is introduced.
The service is called UberX and it enables professional drivers, operating via a company or a special craft licensed for providing ve-hicles with drivers to clients, to offer their services. Drives are paid for by a card and not with cash via the application and you will know an approximate price of the drive before the driver arrives. It basically works by connecting people who need to get from point A to point B with drivers who can provide the service.
Uber prices in Split have already been made public. The starting price is 9 kuna and each following kilometre is paid an additional 5 kuna, with an extra 0.5 kuna added to the final amount for each mi-nute of the drive.
A TAXI RIDE IN A FEW STEPS
1. Install Uber using iTunes, Google Play or Windows Store2. Sign up, enter your email address, phone number and
basic credit card data3. When you need a ride, just open the application, choose
your starting point and destination.4. You will then see the closest vehicles and the approxi-
mate price of the ride.5. Once you've confirmed the ride, you will see the driver's
face, name, average rating as well as the vehicle type and regi-stration table number.
6. After the service is provided, you will get a digital invoi-ce with the route you took. You can also rate the driver and the driver can rate you as a passenger.
8Due to its pleasant odour and curative properties,
the Romans used it for their baths while the Greeks used it mostly for medical propos-es. Its effectiveness in various difficulties is widely known and there is almost no home whose wardrobe is not pro-tected by a small bag of laven-der flower. It is a traditional medicine for the pacification and alleviation of insomnia and headaches, anxiety, de-pression, tension and stress.
1 Mix a few drops
of etheric lavender oil with olive oil which is an excellent combination for nurturing the body, hair and face, par-ticularly after sunbathing.
2 Add a few drops
of etheric lavender oil to neu-tral oil (sesame oil), spread it over your temples and the back part of your neck to re-move headaches and tension.
3 Pour one litre
of boiling water over four spoons of dry lavender flow-ers. Let it stay for five min-
utes. Filter the tea and add a pinch of cinnamon and drink it throughout the day – it will save you from in-somnia.
4 Insect stings:
place a drop or two of ether-ic oil directly over the sting.
5 When tired
pour apple vinegar over two handfuls of lavender flowers and leave it under the sun. Filter after two weeks. It is used by taking deep breaths over it.
Why is lavender so
magical?

A sunset to remember
8The tradition of Zadar boat rowers has been
passed on to generations for hundreds of years in some Zadar families and has suc-ceeded in being preserved re-gardless of all the challenges of modern times.
Boat rowers (lat. barca-tores), have been connecting on their small boats the two shores of the city port since
the 14th century – from the Điga, breakwater with light-house, to the Peninsula and thus shortening the trip to the city centre or to work for many inhabitants of Zadar. The boat rowers are friends of travellers and taxi driv-ers and are at their service all year round. Those who have not experienced this crossing have not really been to Zadar.

Gaius Laberius
8The gravestone of a seven-year-old Roman boy Gaius
Laberius, who holds a sphere in his hand decorated with a net-work of connected hexagons, a symbol of real leather beauty is considered to be from proof that the first football in Europe was played here in the Cetina region. It was found on the Tilurium ar-chaeological site, in the locality of Gardun, and dates from the 2nd century. Today it is walled into the façade of a stone house in Vrlička Street in Sinj. The monu-ment is 113 centimetres high and 46 centimetres wide.
Roman soldiers and sons of dis-tinguished persons played foot-ball in Gardun, but the game was originally Illyrian and the Del-mats, an Illyrian tribe, played football much earlier than the ar-rival of the Romans army. This is also confirmed by the fact that nowhere in the Roman Empire, except for Gardun, no sample was found connected with this game.vi

8 Šibenik was the first city in the
world to be lighted by electricity through a hydro power plant back in the year 1895. The replica of such a lamp, which was the work of the first city electrical light-ing, stands on Marulić Square while the idea of building a hydro power plant came from the mayor of the time, Ante Šuput. His house was the first private house with electricity, and besides his house one of the first to en-joy this “privilege” was the brothel.

Split is not only a city museum but a place full of life that thrives among its historical layers AUTHOR MilenA BUDiMiR
8If you're visiting Split for three days, you'll
have more time to discov-er the charm of the city at the foot of Mount Marjan. Apart from walking around Diocletian's Palace you can also enjoy the city's relaxed Mediterranean vibe - a true antidote for stress. Just sit at the Waterfront or one of city squares, like the locals do. Sitting around a cup of cof-fee and having endless chats is what the city spirit is all about. Join them!
1Make sure you take a walk in neighbourho-
ods where the old Split essen-ce is still present, such as Ve-li Varoš and Radunica, or vi-sit Matejuška, a fishermen's port where spirits of the ci-ty's star-crossed lovers, Ro-ko and Cicibela, are still ali-ve. The old Split we mentio-
ned was a small town of only 30,000 inhabitants, where everybody knew each other and were proud of their own identity and heritage.
2Make sure you reser-ve a day for discove-
ring Mount Marjan; don't just walk to the observation point, but carry on exploring forest trails. The Mount Mar-jan area is ideal for all sorts of recreational activities - walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, kayaking, etc. This forest park located at the western part of the Split pe-ninsula has for ages been the city's main symbol, serving as its watchful guard. People of Split have since the olden days considered Mount Marjan as their spiritual haven. Ancient churches scattered across it, some of them, like the ones on Mount Marjan's southern part, actually carved into sto-ne, serve as evidence of that. Every corner of Mount Mar-jan offers peace and esca-pe from the city hustle and bustle, enabling your to enjoy the view of Split and its surro-undings both on land and in

Grandiose architectonic creation was construct-ed and captureed from the 13th to 17th centu-ry so the styles you can find there are Roman-ic, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. There is a baptistery from the 15th century in the atrium done by Andri-ja Aleši who was one of the masters that worked on it. Then there is a fa-mous Radovan’s Portal from the 13th century, the magnificent church-tower which is a mixture of artistic styles, from Gothic to Mannerism. One can also find Saint John’s Chapel from 15th century there, which represents a master-piece of European Re-naissance.N

10 TIPS for the first-time travellers...
1 Take your time
Explore the coast. Our gems like the UNESCO listed Plit-vice Lakes, city of Trogir, Split, Šibenik, Zadar, our is-lands... Take your time to see it all. Be a good planer.
2 Don’t only swimm
Yes, great sea, faboulous sun-ny days - but get on your feet - don't miss Games of Thrones star Dubrovnik, Split, with it's spectacular Roman Dio-cletian’s Palace, the old Ro-man hub of Zadar and early Croatian city Šibenik.
3 Bucket list
Google us! Find all about us, and make your own Bucket list: things to do and see and try at our coast.
4 Get the reservation
Spare beds are hard to find in the middle od the sum-mer, so - make your reserva-tion before you travel. It can be realy hard to find a place to stay, especially in the most popular islands – like Hvar and Brač – and Dubrovnik. Booking ahead makes sense.
5 Stay Healthy
You should always take care! But if something bad hap-pens - you can recieve a ba-sic health care in every cor-ner of Dalmatia. Don't forget - the emergency ambulance number in Croatia is 112.
6 Drink up
Croats love their beer, but you should (also) try Dalma-tian wines! Look out for the mighty Dingač red and the dry Pošip white.
7 Get active
Getting active is the best way to discover our hidden corners. Omiš offers superb hiking and climbing, while in the islands the walk to the highest point, Vidova Gora on Brač, offers remark-able views. For rafting the Cetina River tempts, while windsurfers should head to Korčula and kitesurfers to Neretva or Pelješac.
8 Eat well
Croats are proud of the fine organic products their coun-try has, wherever you are, a local market is never far away, so shop local.
9Talk to the locals
You'll soon understand that a Dalmatian people are very friendly. They will gladly help you, and show you what you can't find online, or in a book.
10 Try the seafood
Croatia’s seafood is truly world class. Fish delights are comming daily from the Adriatic, the cleanest cor-ner of the Mediterranean. No trip to the coast is com-plete without a seafood feast.
Don't forget - Dalmatia is one of Europe’s rising stars. We have 1244 islands, bear and wild boar inhabited forests and world-class vineyards is so much more than just a beach destination. Follow our top ten travel tips

How to taste great food when you are 'on a budget'
CHEAP EAts
We recommend places where to eat for under 10 euros and the meals are totaly worth your money!
Paradox is absolutely the hit place in Split, and their tapas, helping por-tions of cheese with honey, jam, dry fruit and prosciutto are a regu-lar quick dish with a glass of good wine. Even though Paradox does not serve regular tapas, the inhabitants of Split have decided to give these that name.- We are not a tapas bar, we serve 25, sometimes even 30 types of cheeses that come in various combinations. We also serve marinated anchovies, sweet bacon, duck breasts and similar, but people mainly like to eat cheese and prosciutto – says Zoran Pejović from Paradox who is, at the moment, running a successful Split restaurant called Paradigma.Pejović states that Paradox is not that young any more, they have been open for five seasons and guests have recognized their quality.- We have something specific. We present our food nicely, particular-ly the cheeses, and we inform each guest on the history of the served cheese, where it comes from and of what taste and tradition. Even though we have a number of imported cheeses, we mainly offer do-mestic ones, Dalmatian cheeses – adds Pejović and he also likes to eat tapas in Paradox.

ISTRIA
DRINK NOW
8Wine is one of the most valuable elements of the Croatian tradition and gastronomic heritage. For as
long as these parts have been inhabited, wine has been an inseparable component of both the daily routine and fes-tivities. Over centuries, each Croatian wine region devel-oped its own distinctive wine varieties that fully adapted to the climate, soil and expectations of their residents. When you find yourself in one of the wine regions of Cro-atia such as Dalmatia, Istria, Hilly Croatia or Slavonia, don’t forget to taste some of the wines favorite among the local population.
8In Dalmatia, it is plavac mali. This is the most im-
portant and the most represent-ed red variety in Croatia. It yields soft, ripe and succulent wines when offered in a lower price range and originates from Dal-matian fields situated in ravines hidden in endless karst. On the
other hand, when it comes from steep slopes facing the sun and the sea, usually from islands or peninsulas such as Hvar, Brač and Pelješac, it gives powerful, warm, strong and ripe wines, per-fectly reflecting the harsh condi-tions that created them with their richness and concentration.
8When in Is-tria, malvasia
is the most impor-tant variety to try. A white wine full of freshness and pleasant aromas of ripe fruits, such as peaches and hints of blossoming aca-cias. In addition to this basic edition, malvasia can also be found in more ambitious forms af-ter ageing for a long time and developing a co-mplex aromat-ic set.

8When in Hilly Croatia, look for
aromatic white varie-ties such as sauvignon blanc or Riesling (lo-cally referred to as ra-jnski rizling). They also use many other varie-ties to make wine in the region, but what they all have in com-mon are lively acids and a highly refreshing character. The wines of Hilly Croatia work ideally as an aperitif, refreshment in sum-mertime, or to go with a light meal.
8Slavonia and the Dan-ube Region are an em-
pire of graševina, the most important and represent-ed white variety, but also a general type. Graševina is a good-time wine, and is ide-al to go with your lunch. It is normally bold and refresh-ing with attractive aromas of apple, pineapple or cit-rus, and is offered at very affordable prices. Some-times, when it comes from later harvests, it shows quite a different face and its aromas, such as meadow flowers and chamomile, be-come dominant in the riper, softer and richer flavor.

If you are there for the first time yo'll see that he just enjoys his work and cares about the customers. We recommende - see food and great wine. Don Antonio has his own farm so the produces almost everything alone. Try his home made wine. The restaurant has a lovely garden, a small menu but carefully chosen and food cooked with passion. The fact that Perivoj is located in a villa that is from the 1900’s makes it very special. It is truly a gem in Split. Secondly, pastry and savory food are very important, as they make sure they work with best of ingredients and focus on seasonality. Also, don't forget they have friendly staff! You can say they have best desserts you ever tasted, pastries and pies with chocolate melting down the sides sure are a weakness and we bet you love them too. Who can resist that crackle when biting down on a macadamia hugged by caramel? It is for a full meal or just coffee and cakes – you must experience it!

gET To know uS korculA
¨Town full of timeless beauty, casts an everlasting spell of wonder on those who tread upon its ancient stone. So they say! Do you dare to look it up?AUTHOR MILENA BUDIMIR
8The town of Korčula, known all over the world
as "Little Dubrovnik" (and rightfully, we might add) as it is among the most beautiful and best preserved medieval towns not only in Croatia but on the entire Mediterranean.Korčula is a wonderful des-tination for getting to know rich culture and tradition, gastronomy and oenology, and not only of the town, but of the whole island. It is also a magnificent starting point for discovering numerous attrac-tive beaches, coves and vari-ous other miracles of nature. On top of that, your stay in Korčula can be complement-
ed by many fun recreational and adrenaline sports.KORCULA Old TOWN is a medieval walled city posi-tioned on a oval-shaped swell-ing of land pointing deep into Peljesac Channel. The city it-self is grooved with a succes-sion of narrow streets that branch off the spine of the main street like the fish bone. Fish bone shape was used in Korcula Old Town design to reduce effects of wind and sun and provide citizens with sheltered and comfortable ac-commodation. Korcula ar-chitecture in the Old Town is mainly influenced by Venetian Renaissance
