The endless ques-tions of growing children often become boring and frustrating. There are times when no answer will do and no explana-tion is ever sufficient. The child persists, refuses to be satisfied with our best answers and the ques-tions never stop. Perhaps David had times in his life, as we all do, when it seemed as though his “King” would not answer his questions. It seemed as though the Lord stood far beyond and above him, unavail-able and unable to an-swer his questions. So, what did David do? He thought that he under-stood Him, did what he knew He expected of him to the best of his ability. Yet we see him standing there in wonder - want-

ing and waiting to hear a voice and unable to bear the silence. What was his prob-lem? And do we have this same problem to-day? Perhaps. Instant gratification and sudden success do not breed faith in God. But patient expectation and utter dependence on Him does. Perhaps our “fast-food-lanes” and “any-time-bank-tellers” have eroded the im-portance of waiting and watching and wondering. Deep within us we be-lieve that He will answer our prayers and meet our needs. We know that His power is beyond our imagination. David real-ized this, too. David had an intimate knowledge of God and knew Him personally. Yet, he asked the who ques-tion twice as though His power was not available. But it was! God wanted David to wait and trust and grow.

God’s WayIrvine Apostolic ChurchWho was Apostle Paul?

As we examine Apostle Paul’s life, we must look at who he was to comprehend who he became. Of-ten he is called the greatest apostle of the New Tes-tament. I would refrain from this statement, simply because the Lord is no respecter of persons. We see many acts of all the apostles in differ-ent avenues of personalities, gifts, zeal, faith and preaching. Nevertheless, the gospel of Jesus was preached. However, as I was examining Paul’s ministry I have looked at the history of the apostle, which was a Jew of the city Cilicia, brought up at the feet of Gamaliel. He was taught the perfect manner of the law of the fathers and zealous toward God. Nev-ertheless, he persecuted the church whom Jesus died for. Acts 22:1-22. Paul consented to the ston-ing death of Apostle Stephen and made great perse-cution against the church that was established on the day of Pentecost. Acts: 1&2, Acts: 7: 51-60. Acts 8:1-18. Paul was on his way to Damascus, to perse-cute the church, when Jesus visited him in a su-per natural way. There was a light shining down on him and he fell to the earth and heard a voice say. Saul, Saul, “why persecutest thou me?” Paul was blinded, however Jesus told him to continue on and go to one called Ananias, which would pray for him and he would receive his sight. Paul did this and later was baptized in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost. Jesus informed Paul, he would suffer many things for his name’s sake. Acts: 9: 1-20. Paul began his journey full of the Holy Ghost and power, preaching repentance, baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the infilling of

the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. In Acts chapter 13, verse 9, Paul and Saul are the same person. Paul is the Jewish name for Saul. Paul came upon some disciples of John the Bap-tist one day and asked them if they had received the gift of the Holy Ghost; their reply to Paul was we don’t know if there be any Holy Ghost. Paul asked them, “Unto what then were you baptized?” They answered Paul, “Unto John’s baptism.” Paul ex-plained that John baptized unto repentance, how-ever John admonished them to believe on him that would come after him, which was Jesus Christ and he would baptize with the Holy Ghost and fire. When they heard this they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Paul then laid his hands upon the twelve men and the Holy Ghost came on them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Paul started many churches and left capable pastors to take care of them. However, he contin-ued to minister to them through his letters to the churches. He strongly believed in prophecy, tongues, and condemned the ignorance of men who opposed the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Acts: 14:18-39 Paul believed and taught in One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism. Eph. 4:1-6. He also taught, though we or an angel from heaven come preaching to you any other gospel, let him be accursed. Gal: 1:6-9. He preached without the spirit of Christ, you are none of his (Jesus). Rom: 8:5-11. Paul was the man called to preach salvation to the Gentiles, who also wrote two thirds of the New Testament. Wow! What an amazing transformation! From a murderer and one who opposed the truth of the gospel in every way possible through ignorance.Lord, please don’t allow us to make the same mis-take and oppose this marvelous truth you have given us today.

God Bless! Pastor Ivan Smith
