NOTES
When I began searching through poems to use for this song cycle, NewYork had recently suffered from the tragic events of September 11, 2001.While I did not wish to write a piece in memorium, in hindsight it isapparent that the events of that day were milling about in my mind as Iconsidered different texts.
The three songs might be considered as a story – a setting, a meeting,and a remembrance.
