Auto Show Overview Cobo Hall, Detroit Michigan

January  29,  2014

Summary I Trends

If you like concept cars, this show was not the place to be. Despite this fact, the show was a fascinating example of automotive refinement.

As designers, the use of technology, high quality materials, durability, and subtle styling refinement examples were something to get excited about.

Following are trends that we noticed:

§  More production vehicles with matte finish exteriors

§  More small fuel efficient SUV’s, Americans like to ride high

§  Luxury brands integrating smaller SUV’s and cars into line ups

§  Materials used are higher quality and more durable

§  No room for a cheap car anymore

§  American brands continue to narrow the gap in producing high

quality vehicles that Americans want to buy.

§  Audi continues to set the bar in styling and technology integration

§  Continued electronic integration into all vehicles
