The  Materiality  Balanced  Scorecard:  OrganisationalChange  towards  Sustainability IntegrationMireia Guix

The paper proposes the MaterialityBalanced Scorecard (MBSC) as a suitableinstrument to define, communicateand operationalise strategic sustainabilityobjectives. The presentation explores theintegration of the Balanced Scorecard asan established performance managementsystem with Materiality Assessment as asustainability reporting method.Accordingly, an organisation can improveits management control by addressing thequality, transparency and consistency ofits sustainability response, withoutundermining the viability of the business.

Mireia Guix is Assistant Professor at theAdministration School of Universidad del Rosario(Colombia), and a PhD candidate at the Universityof Surrey (England). Since October 2016 she is anAssociate Professor at Ramon Llull University(Spain) where she had been a lecturer since 2012in sustainability management and responsibletourism both at the undergraduate and graduatedegrees. Mireia Guix holds a Responsible TourismManagement Master at Leeds MetropolitanUniversity. She has been a consultant insustainable destination management anddevelopment cooperation projects. Her researchfocuses on sustainability performance managementand sustainability reporting for the hospitalityindustry.
