Welcome to EBSCO’s Discovery Service for Corporate Users tutorial. EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) offers a fast, single search across your company’s print & electronic information resources, providing comprehensive results to broaden your research by locating information you might not know exists.

A useful tool for Research and Development, Risk Management, Competitive Intelligence, Sales and Marketing, and Product Management, Discovery/EDS features access to full-text content from the world’s largest collection of Science, Technical, Medical and Business publishers, all available from a single search box, putting the relevant results you need within reach in three easy steps.

Searching – Beginning your search on Discovery is easy. Simply enter your keywords into the search box and click the Search button.

Managing Results - Discovery displays your results sorted by the items most relevant to your terms. From here, you can use several tools to limit your results to only those of interest to you.

From the column on the left, you can select limiters and specific source types to reduce the number of results. You can also select a publication to view only those results from that specific publication. For this search, we’ve limited results to those that are peer-reviewed.

You can access all of the limiters made available by your administrator, including Disciplines when you click the Show More link.

Disciplines enhance the relevance of your results by only displaying those assigned to a subject-like discipline. For example, if you select the Business & Management discipline and click Search, your results are refreshed to show those assigned to that discipline.

Accessing full text - Discovery automatically checks for where full text is available and displays links to where it can be retrieved. Full text may be available directly in EDS or available via links to other services such as your catalog, institutional repository, or external resources.

The breadth of available full text in EDS can help your organization save money on document delivery costs. And if the full text you need is not available, Discovery works with your existing document delivery solutions to retrieve it. EDS also offers the ability to request full text documents using the Request this document link.

Even if your institution does not have a large amount of full text coverage via databases or subscriptions, EDS captures high quality metadata for your articles and sends that metadata to your administrator for document delivery using the Document Request Form.

At any time, you can click the Help link to view the online Help system.
