The Spelling Clouds reflect the most commonly used representations (sound pics) for the 46 speech sounds we focus on, to teach reading and spelling . They are explored, adapted

and personalised by students throughout their learning journey. Remember- decoding sound pic (phonemes) depends on how STUDENTS say the words!

‘Speech Sound Pics’ represent one Speech Sound. There are 2 exceptions. Speech Sound Pics represent TWO speech sounds, in the case of ‘x’ (k/s) and also qu (k/w)

This cloud refers to the two speech sounds k/s represented by one sound pic
