Students are continuing to work on their gross motor skills. This
week we are focusing on using the parachutes for gross motor
movements. The parachute movements are balance, rhythm and
locomotor skills.
Art- 1st
1st grade is exploring form as an element of art. We are also
learning about the artist Wayne Theibaud. We are drawing 3-D
slices of pie inspired by his oil paintings.
Stuck inside on a rainy day? Grab a paper and pencil and check out
the doodle droid!
Check out the Doodle Droid, a youtube channel for guided drawings,
I will continually update the channel with drawings we do in class as
well as some bonus drawings. If you and your Champion are
interested, subscribe so you can catch all the new videos.

Music K-5 Our Lower School Chorus had a wonderful performance Tuesday
night! Thank you to all who came and supported our Champions!
Spanish K-3
One of our standards is to
"Recite memorized
poetry/songs from the target
culture." K-1 is working on
two. Our current unit is
"Chocolate" where champions
are learning about families
and making hot chocolate in
Mexico. They are practicing a
chant used when making hot
chocolate. You may find a link
here. They also saw and held a traditional molinillo used in mixing
hot chocolate.
K-3 is working on a children's song from Spain. There are two
versions to this song and we are learning the shorter one. Even
though it is about a turkey, it is not about Thanksgiving. You can see
the video here. They sing the shorter version in Spanish first and
then in English.
● Habit 6: Synergize! Together is better!
○ I value other people’s strengths and learn from them.
○ I get along well with others, even people who are different from me.
○ I work well in groups. ○ I seek out other people’s ideas to solve
problems because I know that by teaming with others we can create better solutions than any of us can alone.
○ I am humble.

Parent- Teacher Book Club!
We're starting an exciting new group at IC Imagine!
What better way to instill a love of reading in your
children than to have them see you reading and engaged
in discussions about books? Our new book club will be
an open invitation to parents and teachers. We invite
you to read the book, How To Talk So Kids Will Listen
and Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine
Mazlish.
We will meet on February 5 at 6:00pm (Laufer’s room,
Brevard Road Campus) to discuss the book.

catharinelaufer@icimagine.org if you
would like to join us.
