Multidisciplinary Cancer ClinicsThe UWCCC’s strength continues to lie in its “multidisciplinary” cancer clinics, where a medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgeon and other specialists work together in determining the best possible treatment for each patient. These clinics incorporate several disciplines to enhance patient care, including outstanding nursing, genetic counseling, social work, pathology, radiology, psychology and dietary evaluation.
The multidisciplinary cancer clinics include:
• Bone Marrow Transplant• Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors• Breast cancer• Esophageal cancer• Gastrointestinal cancer• Gynecologic cancer• Head and neck cancer• Lung cancer• Melanoma• Pediatric hematology and oncology• Sarcoma• Urologic cancer
Clinical TrialsClinical trials – testing promising new treatments – are among UWCCC’s greatest strengths. These research studies uncover answers to specific scientific questions about new ways to prevent, diagnose, detect and treat cancer and offer patients access to state-of-the-art therapies.
More than 250 clinical trials are available for patient enrollment at the UWCCC each year. For more information, contact Cancer Connect, (800) 622-8922. A complete listing of all clinical trials is also available at uwhealth.org/cancer.
