Why do we need cognitive systems?

What’s different about cognitive?

What are others doing with cognitive?

How can airlines use cognitive?

The worlds largesttaxi company…

Owns no vehicles

The worlds largestaccommodation company…

Owns no real estate

The worlds largestretailer…

Carries no inventory

The worlds largestmedia company…

Creates no content

Disruption is upon us

10 Terabytes of commercial aircraft and engine data every 30 minutes

800K Facebook status updates & Tweets every 30 seconds

20 million+ passenger posts on FlyerTalk since its inception

26 billion weather forecasts per day

BigDoesn’t describe it…..

Traditional systems and databases are inadequate

80% of the world’s data is unstructured20% can be understood by traditional computer systems90% was created in the past two years

…Text, speech, video, photos, music, sensors, and more

Welcome to the cognitive era

Data is the new natural resource

But there is too much data coming too fast for any human to understand and act on it

Reinventing cancer diagnosis and treatment

Watson performs accurate genomic analysis of a cancer’s DNA by cross-referencing the sequencing data with a comprehensive database of existing medical literature. It can create, within minutes, a report for physicians identifying likely cancer-causing mutations and provides a list of potential therapies ranked by levels of evidence, replacing a time-intensive process.

News Flash - August 8, 2016 - TokyoIBM Watson pinpoints rare form of leukemia in just 10 minutes after doctors had misdiagnosed patient.

Doctors had been unsuccessfully treating the patient for a different type of cancer for months before turning to Watson.

Part toy - Part pal - All awesome

How It WorksCogniToys educate and entertain.

Dinos listen to kids’ questions and adapt to their age and abilities, allowing them to grow over time - just like kids do.

Dinos can answer lots of questions, tell bedtime stories and even tell jokes!

Vocabulary words and math questions are sprinkled throughout the toy's many games and stories to ensure kids and their Dinos are always learning.

Local Motors debuts "Olli", the first self-driving vehicle to tap the power of Watson

Olli is the first vehicle to use the cloud-based cognitive capability of Watson IoT to analyze and learn from high volumes of transport data, produced by more than 30 sensors embedded throughout the vehicle.
