WELCOME ARTISTS!Our Brother Legion / 7001 welcome you.

Art introduces us to new worlds, new ideas, and

new friends.

“I was alone in the apartment. I sat at my desk and looked at the reproduction of Guernica, which I had put on the wall near my bed. The city of Guernica had been destroyed by the German Air Force in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. Picasso had painted the mural for the Spanish Pavillon for the International Exhibition in Paris that year. I knew that painting by heart and could draw it in my mind. I had dreamed about the bull and the horse. I had drawn the screaming pain-filled faces of the women in my notebooks during class. I had put the anguished women with the dead child in the back of an English exam book; and had gotten it back with a written remark from the teacher at this having been an English, not an art, examination; he gave me a D on the test. I did not understand what Guernica had to do with the Christian Bible. I did not understand what it had to do with the Massacre of the Infants (Christian New Testament, Matthew). I felt upset and uncomfortable at having read from the Christian Bible. I thought of the mashpia. I wonder if the Rebbe really know what Jacob Kahn was doing. I felt vaguely unclean.”

quite proud of their seemingly abnormal life and turns their disadvantage into

a career.” ― John Waters,

I DO A LOT OF ART OUT OF NECESSITY FOR OUR BROTHER LEGION. IT’S SAFE

ART. 7001 takes more risks. We do not permit faces or overt vulgarity. We’re going to have to label the hell out of everything so consumers will have informed choice (essential

in trauma care). Voicing our suffering and giving language to our doubt requires courage. There is a certain daring to the art of healing.

HEALING CERTAINLY REQUIRES

SANCTUARY.Healing also requires the truth about the human experience.

Finding the truth that gets us off the couch

from depression, that’s our mutual investment.

INVEST IN US.

Invest with us. Bring the best of your community and of your individual aptitudes to let folks

know that they are not alone. That their suffering is not

unnoticed. And that folks care enough to

contribute.

Children are welcome to

participate in whatever ways makes sense to

them.If children want to create

community by sharing their weird little senses of humor,

that’s great. People who struggle love pictures and

cards and stylized resurrected photos of

Zombie Jesus. And children keep growing in generosity.

It’s all good.

Artists, musicians, professionals, and amateursthank you for taking time.

Thank you for sharing your care & talents with 7001.

describe the decades long feud between North and Central Richmond, CA. They said that they were going to “speak the pain out of
