• Assessed for most degree-seeking (full-time undergraduate, graduate, and professional) students.

• Supports the operations of Campus Health

• Covers outreach services from The Health Center, CAPS and The Well:

– Nurse Advice Line, available 24/7

– The Line for support, available 24/7

– Care Coordination from CAPS

– Referral Coordination from The Health Center

– Access to health and wellness web resources

– Free safer sex supplies

– Assistance with using and navigating health insurance

– Flu vaccination and prevention

• While the fee covers

access to services, it does

not provide health

insurance.

Health Insurance: What You Need to Know

• Every degree-seeking Tulane student is required to have health insurance coverage that meets university requirements

• Degree-seeking students MUST take an online action to either waive or enroll in the Tulane-sponsored Student Health insurance plan (T-SHIP)

• If students do not submit proof of comparable insurance, they will be enrolled automatically in T-SHIP

• Currently provided by UnitedHealthcare Student Resources

• Meets all mandatory university insurance requirements

• Offers low copay for prescriptions in the Campus Health pharmacy

Coverage includes the following:

• Pre-existing conditions

• Mental health services

• Unlimited annual maximum benefit

• Prescription benefits with low co-pay

• Provides coverage 24 hours a day world wide

Covers most medical services offered in The Health Center:

• Laboratory Tests

• Injections

• Medications and Medical Supplies

• Medical Procedures

• Physical Examinations (form/document physicals)

Waiving T-SHIP to Use Private Health Insurance

• Alternative insurance must meet minimum requirements which include the following*:

– Unlimited annual maximum benefit

– Emergency and urgent care in the New Orleans area

– Non-emergency care in the New Orleans area

– The student must be covered the entire academic year.

• *A full list of minimum requirements are posted online

• If students do not provide proof of adequate insurance by posted deadlines, they will be enrolled automatically in T-SHIP.
