The Project for Human Resource Development
Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) in Lao P.D.R.
2020 (AY 2021 – 2022)
EXECUTING AGENCY
VOICE FROM A RETURNED FELLOW
More than 5 years studying in Japan (both Master’s and PhD), I have obtained a lot of experience that I cannot find anywhere including various Japanese culture, fantastic food, kindness and humble of
Japanese people. I have a chance to visit many prefectures from the Northern part to Southern parts of Japan through host family programs, exchanging cultural programs, studying tours and
participating into international conferences, these activities played a crucial role to fulfill my study life in Japan.
Japan is not only successful in economic, technology and scientific
development, but it is also rich of cultural heritage. During my Master’s degree in Kobe University I have obtained a lot of knowledge and academic skills, especially the method of conducting research by
applied econometric technique. After graduation, I returned to my faculty and I disseminate all academic knowledge and research skills to my students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
As a lecturer at the National University of Laos, PhD qualification is essential to enhance academic knowledge and ensure quality of teaching and learning. JDS does not only offer the scholarship for
Master’s degree program, but it also supports the Doctoral program as well. I am one of the two students who received a great opportunity to return to Japan for the PhD program under JDS support in 2017.
I strongly believe that the JDS program is a key component in supporting human resource development in Laos, it will be a significant progress to ensure the sustainability of economic
development in this country.
WHAT IS THE “JDS”? The Objective of JDS is to strengthen the government administrative capacities in the Lao P.D.R. through providing opportunities of Master Degree, targeting young government officials, who are expected to be leaders of the country, and to engage in formulating and implementing social and economic development policies after returned.
