Where do smartphones belong in education? Kimberley Flood

Once upon a time there was a teacher….

One day when she was on her phone while watching her husband on his phone She started to wonder….was she being hypocrite in her classroom?

Nah, and she went back to playing Bejeweled. But it made her think, which made her talk to her students…..

And she went back to school And she learned that smartphones weren’t the enemy.

Here’s some interesting stats

•  72% of Canadians own a mobile phone

•  30% of 13-15 year olds own one

•  66% of 16-17 year olds own one (Canadian Newswire, 2008)

•  2011 Harris Poll found that only 9% of teenagers would give up their phone for 24%

Research shows that teens think these devices are an extension of their bodies.

"   And that belief is getting younger….
