Did you know that the Corona-Norco Family YMCA is helping children and families weather the
economic storm? Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone,
regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The Y now
operates eight program sites with a continuum of care for children in the Corona-Norco and Jurupa
Valley Unified School Districts ages 18 months to high school. We are always looking for support from
our community. If you would like more information of how you can help, please contact Lorena Gomez
(951) 736-1415 or gomez@ymcacornor.org The Corona-Norco Family YMCA is a 501(c) (3) charitable
organization classified by the Internal Revenue Service.
Thank you for your continued support of YOUR YMCA!
School Age - This week we are proud to acknowledge the veterans
of our country. We will be discussing the reason for the holiday and creating cards for local veterans. We will also be continuing to
celebrate fall by painting with fall colors and smelling fall scents. We will be starting our discussions about being thankful during these holi-days.
Home Gardens Theme: Families

The students will be able to discuss their family and to come to a
conclusion that each family is different.
Discuss how many moms, dads, grandpa and grandma they
have. Discuss brothers, sisters, nieces, nephew, aunts and uncles they have in their family. Also discuss if their family have any special traditions. Learn a new word “Tradition.”
Continue to work on sharing, caring, trusting, loving and being respectful to one another. Homework, and arts and crafts. We will be making potato tacos, play dough, games, musical
chairs, special hair day, minion’s day and sock day which is Wednesday.
State full time preschool - This week we will be finishing the letters of the week, colors and numbers. We will be exploring the different kinds of leaves and colors that we see in the fall.
We will do a nature walk and will explore different leaves. After collecting some leaves they will use them for leaf rubbing and collage. The letters of the week are O-Y-K; the color is yellow; the number is 8 and the shape is the triangle.
Part time preschool - Last week in First Five we discussed fall colors and took a walk around
our school to investigate the colors we see. Our cooking activity was making salsa and the children enjoyed sharing the ingredients and mixing them together. We also had a visit from a fire fighter who talked to us about safety. This week, the week of November 9-12 we will be
discussing weather and clothing. The class will focus on what we wear and do for fall weather, and we will be making and flying kites. We will also be making mini fruit tarts in our cooking
activity. Next week we will be learning about the fruits and vegetables that we see during fall

This week the children will explore the history of the Vikings. Teachers
will research about the Vikings history then they will give that
information to the children, children will learn that Vikings left their homelands to seek their for-
tunes somewhere else, Vikings were also called Norsemen. Who were the Vikings? People think that Vikings were not civilized, and they were not Christians, in addition to this
information children will make a helmet, they will play a Viking game and they will listen to a Viking war story and they will make up their own story. Children will sample some Viking food and also they will make a Viking ship.
City Park Greetings from City Park. We have been very busy at City Park. Last week,
we had our Harvest Celebration. One of our parents let us borrow some carnival games and the children had a great time playing with them. This
week, we had a guest speaker from the “Grow, Glow, Go Program” from UCR. Our unit of study this month is buildings. The classes have had a lot of fun
making buildings out of boxes of all sizes. Ms. Bousha's class is going to reenact “The 3 Little
Pigs” story with boxes and masks. Ms. Marisa's class will be looking at the buildings in our neighborhood and talking about them.
