Prayerful Greetings and best wishes from Holy Cross Catholic Community. Hope and pray that you and your loved ones are safe, healthy, and doing well. Please be assured of my continued prayers.
Holy Cross did resume mass at Morning Star and Brookdale Vista. Their celebrations were moments of gratitude and joy for all. It was so nourishing for us and for Jim and Earlene from Holy Cross.
We just concluded a very suc-cessful registration campaign for Faith Formation. There are 178 families registered. Classes have started on the 22nd. I am so humbled that we have a large assembly of “Joyful Givers” or faithful facilitators. I am thankful.
These were a series of events that took place prior to the Catechetical Sunday Celebrations. Sonshine Summer Youth Camp, “Welcome back BBQ,” the Facilitator dinner meeting, “We Gather Together as Disciples of Christ” prayer evening, Blessing of all parents, grandparents and honoring and commissioning of the volunteer facilitators during the Catechetical Weekend. They were events in which participants enjoyed a flooding of grace and blessings. I thank the army of “joyful givers” who made these
events happen. Fernando Martinez, Barbara Beverly, Alfredo Fuente, Denise Paul, Terri Bond, Haley Bond, Elizabeth Martinez, Lucy Villanueva, Angie Malone and Dulce Infante are just a few of them.
Work on the Prayer Garden has started. It is my hope to be completed by December. I am sure it will be a great addition to our prayer and wor-ship experience here at Holy Cross.
A series of mini fundraisers are happening under the committed lead-ership of the Guadalupano Council. My sincere appreciation for Yazmin & Raul, Benjamin & Martha, Lupe & Iovana, Carlos & Raquel, Fernando & Lucila, Tony Oseguera, Lupe & Abel, Jose & Enedina, just a few of the gen-erous “Joyful Givers.”
I thank Andrew, Gene, Tony, Enrique, Paul and Elizabeth in re-arranging the worship area and the classrooms. I acknowledge with gratitude the generous support given to faith formation by the Women’s group.
I wish that you all stay safe and healthy. I pray for your well-being and wholeness.
Love & PrayersFather Jose

Centering Prayer is a method of Christian contem-plative prayer developed in the 1970s by three monks living at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts. Their effort evolved into today’s Contemplative Outreach.
The term Centering Prayer relates to Thomas Merton’s description of contemplative prayer as prayer “centered entirely on the presence of God … His will … His love … (and) Faith by which alone we can know the presence of God.”
The Holy Cross Centering Prayer group meets the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We begin each meeting by Centering. Afterward, we discuss readings and topics relating to contempla-tive prayer. If you are interested in attending a meeting or learning more about Centering Prayer, please contact Mark Miskulin at 775-771-5889.
Waste ManagementPlease be mindful when recycling in our bins. Remember
no plastic bags are allowed whether loose or as bagged recy-clables. Failure to comply will result in a fee for Holy Cross. Thank you for your cooperation.

"As Disciples of Jesus Christ, our mission at Holy Cross is to be known by the love we have
for one another. The Faithful – journeying together in Prayer, Friendship and Service.”
A prayer for Vocation
Have you known that per-son? The one who leaves every person they encounter feeling a little more blessed for having met them? They’re the friend you can count on when noth-ing is going well. They’re the one who’s always “doing” for others. They’re never gossiping or sniping or complaining.
We wonder how they do it, how they have it in them. We’re a litle envious, even if we don’t let ourselves acknowledge it.
That, folks, is what the view is like from the front of the line, gazing at those suckers in the way back and wondering why they’re smiling so much. We’ve all been at the front of a line and felt no shame about it. We show up early, we put in the time and the legwork, and we “earn” whatever it is we came for — sports tickets, the latest Apple product, whatever.
That’s how it works here on Earth, where the fastest win the race, the fittest survive and the first shall be first, always.
It’s exactly why stew-ardship is such a tall order. Stewardship calls us to play by the rules of another kingdom — one where the richest have the least amount in their bank accounts and the happiest don’t seem to have anything to show for it, at least materially.
If you have a person in your life who always seems happy “doing” for others, it’s because by a boatload of God’s grace, they play by the rules of the other place.
Watch and take notes — and don’t be afraid to join them at the back of the line.
— Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS
