S. Ghandhy College of Engineering and Technology, Surat at Mahida Bhavan, IEI-SGLC, Ichchhanath, Surat, dated 16 th January 2020. There were around 70 participants (Diploma students, Faculties and Research Scholars / Industrial delegates) who participated (Presentations and Attendee) in the seminar. Total five keynote sessions were scheduled on the theme of the seminar. The seminar is intended to provide an outstanding opportunity for researchers, academicians and industrial communities alike to address new trends and challenges, developments in wet processes for eco-friendly and green processes towards sustainability. Eco-friendly approach include measures such as reduction and prevention in pollution load, reduction in input resources, waste minimization and quality & process control. It involves better chemical management and housekeeping, substitution of toxic and hazardous materials, process modifications, and reuse of waste products. Er. Kirti Sethna, Chairmen, Er. Dipak Patel, Hon. Secretary of IE(I)-SGLC, Surat, Shri N. A. Sangani, Principal, Shri R. G. Patel, Head-DTPT, Shri R. M . Pandya, Sr. Lecturer-DTPT, Dr. S. &. S. S. Ghandhy College of Engineering & Technology, Surat, and invited Chief guests are Shri A. G. Modi, Retired HOD-DTPT, DGCET, Surat and Shri S. B. Naik, President Bhutpurva Vidhyarthi Mandal, DGCET, Surat, and coordinators of the entire one day seminar Mr. Mustafa Baxamusa, Asst General Manager, Rossari Biotech Ltd. and Shri B. U. Mehta, Trustee of BVM, DGCET have shared the dais. The entire one day seminar was arranged and managed by Er. Pavan D. Panwala, who is lecturer in Department of Textile Processing Technology at Dr. S. &. S. S. Ghandhy College of Engineering & Technology, Surat. He is also active member of Bhutpurva Vidhyarthi Mandal of DGCET and IE(I)-SGLC, Surat. All dignitaries, participants and attendees have attended the inaugural ceremony. The program has been initiated with Sarswati Vandana followed by the lamp lighting and floral welcome of the dignitaries. Welcome address was delivered by Chairmen, IE(I)-SGLC Er. Kirti Sethna and Principal, DGCET, Shri N. A. Sangani. Role of alumni association in development of institute was discussed by President, BVM, DGCET, Shri S B. Naik. Introduction of Rossari Biotech Limited was given by Mr. Mustafa Baxamusa, Asst. General Manager, Rossari Biotech Ltd. He emphasized on new developments done by company towards sustainability. Shri R. M. Pandya briefed about the seminar and program schedule. The event was concluded by the vote of thanks by Shri R. G. Patel.

A Report of One Day Seminar on

"An Eco-Friendly Approach For Textile Wet Processing" A one day seminar on “An Eco-Friendly Approach For Textile Wet Processing” was organized by the

IE(I)SGLC Surat in association with Department of Textile Processing Technology, Dr. S. & S. S.

Ghandhy College of Engineering and Technology, Surat at Mahida Bhavan, IEI-SGLC, Ichchhanath,

Surat, dated 16th January 2020. There were around 70 participants (Diploma students, Faculties and

Research Scholars / Industrial delegates) who participated (Presentations and Attendee) in the seminar.

Details of the Sessions:

Forenoon

Keynote Lectures

1stKeynote Lecture: Mrs. Sangeeta Patil, Senior Technical Manager,

Rossari biotech Limited, Mumbai.

Topic: “Quality Control in Wet Processing”

Mrs. Sangeeta Patil has discussed that faults in textile wet processing due to lacking of inspection of

quality control parameters which leads to consumption of more resources like energy, time and raw

materials. Thus as a technician one has to maintain all quality control and process control parameters.

Different quality parameters for textile wet processes like degree of desizing, BAN, WI, Fibre

damage, various fastness properties etc. were discussed. Guidelines to quality indices for bleached

and mercerized goods were listed to prevent batch to batch variations. Dyeing problems and their

remedies were discussed. Different check points for textile wet processing were listed with necessary

actions. She concluded the session with the future directions for the young researchers.

2nd Keynote Lecture: Mr. Dhananjay Bauchkar, Technical Specialist,

Rossari biotech Limited, Mumbai.

Topic: “Sustainability Processing”

Mr. Dhananjay Bauchkar projected the need of eco-friendly approach as green process. He discussed

key products of Rossari Biotech Limited with their features in sustainability processing. The

information given about the products like green acid, green boost, green bleach. He emphasized on

green process which reduces effluent load. He concluded the session with thought that the greater

threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.

3rd Keynote Lecture: Mr. Mustafa Baxamusa, Asst General Manager,

Rossari Biotech Limited, Surat

Topic: “Polyester Processing”

As surat city is known for polyester processing, Mr. Mustafa Baxamusa discussed wet

processing of polyester in different form. He discussed important aspects of polyester

processing like, drumming, weight reduction, heat setting, etc. he explored the concept of

polyester dyeing with disperse dye. He also added important aspects of polyester printing.

He discussed different finishes given to polyester fabric in surat textile industries like, full

inner softness, inner softness with bounce, surface softness, dry feel, etc. He concluded the

session with list of products rossari offers to surat textile market.

4th Keynote Lecture: Mrs. Sangeeta Patil, Senior Technical Manager,

Rossari Biotech Limited, Mumbai

Topic: “Eco Labels”

She interact with participants about different inputs and outputs of textile processing

industries. She discussed Indian Environment Regulations. She aware the participants about

effluent composition of different wet processes and their effects on environment and human

health. She discussed hazardous chemicals in context with GHS. She discussed different eco

labels like, GOTS, Blue Sign, etc. She concluded the session with quote, “Play Your Part in

Saving The World”.

5th Keynote Lecture: Mr. Jayesh Lad, Asst Sales Manager,

Rossari Biotech Limited, Surat

Topic: “Carrier Opportunities in Textile Field”

He said that wide range of products of rossari that are strength of rossari. He discussed

opportunities in the field of textile. He mentioned various areas in the textile for carrier build

up. He explained role of each area and path to reach there. He concluded with greater

demand for textile scholars in industry due to environmental issues and sustainability

process.
