Analysis of NME contents page

In a conventional contents page readers expect to see plenty of pictures to attract visually orientated readers, but the pictures must have captions, and most music magazines try to fit all the contents onto one page, but they

have to more interesting stories bigger than the rest to make them stand out to the audience, the page numbers must be bold and clearly laid out. Under the more interesting stories they may be a quote from an interview to

attract the reader to the story and a short piece of information about the what the story is about, e.g. on this contents page of NME underneath the big picture of members of The Stone Roses there is a quote then a short

piece of information.

On this contents page of NME everything is clearly laid out, even the title for the page is clear. Everything is clearly laid out for the reader because all the top stories are made bigger to attract attention then there is a small column labelled ‘Plus’, these would be the other stories in the magazine or things that the magazine features in

each issue, in some magazines they have concert listings and posters which come free with the issue.
