Analytical Thinking & Analysis
E. Analytical Thought Process
Collect Data: The 1st step is to gather relevant information, which includes assessing the value of the data and eliminating extraneous data.
Dissect Data: Break down all relevant data into smaller parts.
Explore Relationships: Examine the parts to find connections and relationships. Analyze the data and variables to understand how they’re connected and interact. Look for patterns and trends. Conduct a cause and effect in a systemic manner to understand the variables and their relationships. This gets you to begin to think about different implications.
Develop Solutions: Make inferences from available information and draw logical conclusions. After you have thought about potential implications, you can start to formulate theories on what might happen as the variables change. Test your theories where you can to confirm your understanding of issues and drivers behind the issue. After you understand the information start to develop potential solutions and use logic and data to support your solution and remember to evaluate them to determine if they will solve the issue. http://thepeakperformancecenter.com/educational-learning/thinking/types-of-thinking-2/analytical-thinking/
