ANCILLARY TASK 1:Billboard
Billboards are a great way of advertising a company or product. They are big and have a large print surface area which means that a lot of information can be put on them or a large picture so they are very eye catching.
Magazines do not seem to normally use billboards. Magazines are often found newspapers or websites as this targets the audience they are aiming for.
This is an example I found of a billboard advertising a regional magazine, but I couldn’t find anymore.
It has a big title so you can clearly see what the magazine is called.
It always uses big text so it is visible, and has the email address so people can contact them. And using a slogan makes it eye catching.
Using a yellow background makes it eye catching, so it stands out.
Showing a picture of the magazine so you will recognise it, and also showing it on a phone lets people know they can buy it online.
Target audience
The target audience for the “resident” Billboard would be similar to the target audience of the magazine because you want them to attract the same people so there more likely to go and get the magazine.
The target audience for my billboard will be the same as for my regional magazine, as the billboard will be advertisement for my magazine so I would want them all to be aimed at the same type of people. So my target audience will be younger, working class females. The age im going to aim for is around 17-30.
Features of my billboard.
I plan for my billboard to not have much text on it and any text it does have will be in a large font. Information I will have on the billboard will be…• Name of magazine• A social media link• Web address• And a slogan
• I will also have a picture of the magazine itself.• And the billboard will have a bright coloured background (not blue or green
because they are likely to blended into the surrounding area).
