1 Exterior DiagramBefore operating the camera, please read and follow the installation andoperation instructions carefully.

The Andatech SolarCam ASC-200 is a smart wireless camera powered by solar energy.

Its built-in solar panel and rechargeable battery allow it to be self-sustainingin terms of power. (Note: Its battery life may be affected in regions that receive varying amounts of sunlight)Using solar technology and low power consumption, the SolarCam can operate for extended periods of time without requiring a recharge. The SolarCam remains in sleep mode by default and consumes minimal power. It only records when triggered and woken up from sleep mode. The SolarCam is triggered when it detects any movement within its field ofvision. The camera will start recording automatically and the user will be alerted via the mobile app.The SolarCam can also be manually activated with a single click on the mobileapp on your phone from any location.Infrared LED lights provide clear visuals up to 5 meters at night and in

    4 Installation Instructions

    8

The SolarCam can be mounted onto a post or on a wall. The wall must be thick enough to hold three times the weight of the camera.

    1) Prior to setup and selecting the location of installation:a. Confirm that there will be stable WiFi signal (at least two grids of signals). If the signal is not strong enough, you may need to install a WiFi booster or repeater to extend the WiFi coverage.b. Select an area with sufficient sunlight. Ideally, position the camera under direct sunlight.c. Avoid areas with moving objects that may interfere with the camera.

    2) Wall Mount Setupa. Remove the sticker and place it onto the wall where you wish to set up the camera.b. Drill holes in the 3 marked circles and insert the green expansion screw into the hole. (See Fig. 2.2)

c . Align the holes of the mounting bracket with the expansion screws and secure the bracket into place. (See Fig. 2.3)d. Install the camera onto the bracket and secure it in place using the screw.

    3) Post Mount Setupa. Secure the mounting bracket onto the post or pole with the plastic zip ties provided and tighten them as much as possible. (See Fig.2.4)b. Install the camera onto the bracket and secure it in place using the screw.

    4) Regional Sunlight Distribution (see Fig. 2.6)Identify the distribution of sunlight according to the region you are in. (You may need to charge the camera regularly for regions in which

Note: Peak sunshine reflects the maximum solar irradiance that can be amassed – 1000 W/m2.

    5) Operation time of this camera is determined by the amount of solar charging and the number of times the camera is triggered and woken up. Fig. 2.7 depicts the relationship between these factors. Refer to Fig. 2.7 to estimate the camera’s continuous operation time

    9

  • 7) PIR Shield Sheet Installation:The PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor detects changes in heat signature to distinguish movement. Therefore, motion detection can be triggered by changes in sunlight, a fast moving cloud, cars passing by, and objects flying in the wind. If you feel that the sensitivity is too high and the device is being triggered too frequently, you can install the PIR shield sheet to reduce the camera’sdetection range (see Fig. 2.8.1.). Bend the shield sheet in the five places

    6) Notes:Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor is a high-sensitivity detector used to detectobject motion. However, note that motion can also be detected as change inbackground lighting, the passing by of vehicles or the falling of leaves.

If the camera detects false alarms frequently, pleaseuse the “PIR shield sheet” to reduce the area of motion detection. If this does not resolve the issue, you have the option of turning off the motion detection function by selecting "Security" option in the app and turning off the "Motion detection" function in “Protection” menu.

  • 8 Troubleshooting

Error message when trying to add camera.Possible cause 1: Time out error when adding camera on the app.If the WiFi status indicator keeps blinking red for over a minute, please press the reset button for 3-5 seconds until the WiFi status indicator starts blinking in blue. Then, confirm that the router signal is strong enough and input the correct router passwordto re-add the camera.Possible cause 2: On some Android phones, the app prompts the message “Please input the default password, 11111111"There is an abnormal connection between the mobile phone and the camera hotspot. Access the WiFi setup interface of your mobile phone to connect to the camera hospot ”DOG-***” manually. Then, return to the mobile app to add the camera. If this does not work, turn off the mobile phone WiFi and turn it back on again. Repeat the above manual connection method to add the camera.

Can the SolarCam work all the time and what happens when the battery is fully drained?

The SolarCam can be used for up to a month (with 10-20 triggers a day) when charged with sunlight for 4-5 days. If it displays as low battery, minimise the camera’s waking time from false alarms by installing the PIR shield (refer to page 10) and charge the camera via USB using the charging cable provided.

How to access the recorded videos on the camera’s TF card?

Videos stored in the camera can be searched and played back using the mobile app.

Did not receive verification code when signing up.

Kindly check if your phone is out of service. Otherwise, reboot your phone to try again.

Mobile app says “network connection failure”

This may happen if you typed in the wrong WiFi password or the WiFi signal is weak. In some cases (such as in hotels), the router may have a special setting where the user needs to log in to the company web page first for verification before being able to access the internet. The SolarCam will not work with this type of router setting.

    13

  • SolarCam keeps going offline

    1. Make sure that the WiFi password is correct. 2. Make sure that you have internet access from the router. 3. Check that the router does not require special settings (such as log in or verification) to log in to the internet.

Can’t see live video on the phone.

Check the data traffic on the upper right corner of the mobile app. If it is not “0 kb” and the app keeps on searching or cannot connect, it is probably caused by the short bandwidth of your internet service. Please check with your internet provider to ensure that you have at least 40kb/s of feasible bandwidth.

Can more than one person access the camera to view videos?

More than one person can access the camera to view live videos, but not at the same time.

The alarm does not work even after clicking Protection.

Check that the camera is not in “At Home” mode. In “At Home” mode, all cameras will be on standby, and motion detection, message notification, and recording functions stop.

Will the camera record video if it does not have a TF card in it?

The camera must have a TF card in it to be able to record video.

How much data does the camera consume?

Live videos will consume about 2mb per minute. If using the audio function as well, it will consume an additional 0.4mb per minute.

The mobile app cannot find the camera.

Make sure that your mobile phone is connected to the same WiFi network. Then, check that the WiFi indicator on the camera is blinking in blue. If it is not, please press the WiFi button for 3 seconds until the WiFi indicator light starts blinking.

How much can the TF card record? The 16GB / 32GB TF card can store years of recordings (based on a recording of 10events per day).
