I have 15 years experience of working on participatory arts projects with communities, schools, young people and old. Here are five projects working with schools that I conceived, planned and delivered.

Human Sculpture Project London 2010 I was commissioned by Camden Council to work with Year 1 & 2 pupils from Eugene de Mazenod School to explore public art and sculpture around the City of London’s Broadgate Centre. Inspired, they returned and posed as public sculptures which were later shown in a photographic exhibition.

Brecknock School Sustainable Art Project London 2010 This project for The London Borough of Camden looked at the environmental impact of art. We visited galleries and a recycling centre - and created environmental art on the Thames foreshore, as well as a recycled art installation.

Junk Mail Tree Project London 2010 With this project for Camden Council I worked with year 5 pupils from St Joseph’s School in Covent Garden on an environmental art project. We researched the pros and cons of junk mail to demonstrate the impact it has on the environment. The children created a ‘life size’ sculpture of a tree fabricated from junk mail they had collected. It was exhibited in Swiss Cottage Library over the Summer.

Barbican’s 25th birthday London 2007 As part of the Barbican’s 25th birthday celebrations I worked with Hugh Myddelton School (Islington) to explore the the Barbican’s history and depict it in an artwork in the Barbican Foyer. The children created a Waterfall of History - polycarbonate panels and transparent vinyl - each with a story from the past.

Wall of fame London 2004 In this project I worked with Year 10 pupils from Hackney Free and Parochial School to research and celebrate their local aspirational figures. They created artworks representing their heroes’ special attributes - some receiving personal and very positive responses. Especially noteworthy were Alexander McQueen and Trevor Nelson, the latter coming to open the exhibition.
