“rightly dividing” the word of truth from what we get in worship each week? No. Our duties as Christians require a deep meditation of the Word of God (Psalm 1:2) and this takes dedication and determination. What we learn when we Worship God at services should be nothing more than a foundation to a much more complex study. Trust me when I say it's well worth it. So I challenge you; study your Bible today, tomorrow, and the next day for ten minutes. Find a quiet place and study your Bible. I promise you won’t regret it! God Bless! David Olmos
Can you believe that June is already over! That means that our summer is close to half over! We still have the entire month of July and some of August, but time really flies during this time of the year. I think that it is important to make the most of our time, but I also think that we should take the time to slow down and talk with God. This past month has been busy with VBS, Camp Bandina, and Trek. It’s easy to get caught up in the thought of, “these are spiritual events, so I’ll pray more and be closer to God.” That can be a true statement, but we shouldn’t rely on the idea that one event is going to change your whole spiritual life. Powerful events like camp and Trek can help you grow spiritually, but that growth has to continue when you come home. It is easy to be spiritual around those that are also spiritual. It isn’t as easy when those around you are not.

Ten Minute Challenge After our lesson last week on studying God’s
word, I wanted to issue the congregation a challenge. I think it will strengthen your relationship with God and create habits that will help you on your daily walk as
Christians. All you need to do is find an extra ten minutes each day to study your Bible. For those of you who do not have a daily study period then the extra ten minutes is a good starting point, which, over time, can be increased. For those who already study your Bibles regularly then increase that time by ten minutes or find someone who needs help and study with them. I know that many of you are busy with work, camps, trips and family events, but studying your Bible is probably one of the most important things you need to do each day. The problem is finding the time to do it.
Each day we wake up we have a list of things that need to be done. When this occurs we tend to prioritize our duties from most important to least and work on those things at the top of our list. How many of us can honestly say that the most important thing to us is our daily devotion to God? How many of us can say that we take time each day to study our Bibles even if it's just for a few minutes? The concern that I have comes from an analysis of 2 Timothy 2:15. In the King James Version, it reads, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The New King James reads, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The two translations together give a deeper understanding of what is being asked of us as Christians. We must study our Bibles diligently so we can present ourselves to God as prominent workers capable of answering anything that is asked of us. There are other verses which teach the very same concept like 1 Peter 3:15 which says, “be ready always to give an answer”, and 2 Timothy 4:2 which says “be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort will all longsuffering and doctrine.” However, can this be accomplished with only one day of studying each week? Can we honestly say we are capable of
Shelly Bryant On Sunday, July 21, following our evening worship, we will
have a short sandwich supper in our fellowship hall. After our meal, Shelly will give a
report on her work.
