1 Davison High School March 9, 2020 Announcements ANIME CLUB—TOMORROW! Game Day for the Club! Anime Club will meet on Tuesday, March 10th, in Mrs. Stedrys room 220 from 2:453:30pm. Bring your favorite game to play! TRACK AND FIELD Track and Field starts TODAY, Monday, March 9th! We will meet in the cafeteria at 3:00pm and then head outside for practice. Come dressed to go outside and bring your yellow all clear card. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Ames, Mr. Crongeyer, or Mr. Weingartz. ANIME CLUB—TOMORROW!

Game Day for the Club!

Anime Club will meet on Tuesday, March 10th, in Mrs. Stedry’s room 220 from 2:45—3:30pm. Bring your favorite game to play!

TRACK AND FIELD

Track and Field starts TODAY, Monday, March 9th! We will meet in the cafeteria at 3:00pm and then head outside for practice.

SPRING SPORTS TRYOUTS

Spring tryouts start the week of March 9th. Remember, all athletes MUST give Coach a yellow card on the 1st day of tryouts.

If you don’t, you will not be allowed to participate until you do. To get a yellow card, all athletes have to turn in a valid physical and athletic

registration packet to the athletic office. Please see Mrs. Bruce in the athletic office if you have any questions.

FRENCH CLUB

French Club Members: Do you want to know how to say Leprechaun in French? Do the French celebrate Saint

Patrick’s Day? How about Mardi Gras? Come check out our fun meeting and answer a few

questions to win door prizes! This Thursday, March 12th, right after school is when you

will find our pot of gold in Mrs. Hungerford’s classroom 245.

SENIOR SLIDESHOW PICTURES All parents wanting to submit pictures to the senior slideshow must

have pictures submitted by Friday, April 10th. Please submit all pictures to [email protected]

VARSITY BOWLING NEWS

Friday—NHSAA State Team Finals Davison Varsity Boys—State Team Finals—Qualified 8th Overall with 3,449 pins.

Top 8 teams advance to State Team Elimination Finals. High scores for the Cardinals in qualifying: Isaac Dudla had games of 227 and 229,

Shane Gagnon had a 226 game, and Brendan Ashley added a 237 game. The boys defeated #1 see Macomb Dakota in the Quarter-Finals. High scores in

match play: Shane Gagnon had a 253 game, and Brendan Ashley had a 236 game. Davison advanced to the Final Four where they were defeated by #5 see Salem High

School in the Semi-Finals. Davison Cardinals Boys Bowling finished as the #3 team in MHSAA Division One

Bowling for the 2019-2020 season. Saturday—NHSAA State Singles Finals Boys State Singles Finals—Brendan Ashley qualified 6th with 1,281 pins over 6

games, an average of over 213 per game. Brendan defeated Jonah Musial, #11 see, from Farmington to move into the Elite

Eight. Brendan was defeated by Izaac Goergen, #3 seed, from Midland in the Quarter Fi-

nals, who would go on to win the State Singles Title. After the competition was completed it was announced that Brendan Ashley was se-

lected 1st Team All State for Division One. Girls State Singles Finals—Lindsay Gipson finished outside of the Top 16 and did

not advance to the Match Play Round.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM CAMPUS SECURITY

DO NOT leave personal property laying around in the gym, hallways, cafeteria, etc.

Personal property should be kept with you at all times or locked in your locker. This includes backpacks, lunches, cell phones, books, etc.

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB

It’s not too late to join the Creative Writing Club! The club meets Thursdays from 2:45—4:00pm in Mrs. Fowler’s room 102 in the DAE building.

Just bring your passion for writing and your imagination. We talk and laugh and write. Some students share what their pieces are about and

others prefer to keep it to themselves—it’s completely up to you!

Tutoring Available

Tutoring is available in the library every Tuesday and Thursday until 3:30. If you need help in any class, come to the library right after school to get help!

You may use this time for NHS hours.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS WHO PARK ON CAMPUS!!

PLEASE make sure you are parking in the parking spot which has been assigned to you! If someone is in your spot, please do not shift to the next spot as that is also someone’s

parking spot! If this happens, park in the front drop off area and come to the front office to get a temporary parking permit for the day.

Also, please take a picture of the car license plate and/or permit # so that we can track down who is parked in your spot.

ALL STUDENT PARKING LOTS are full!

If you do not have a parking permit, you should not be parking on campus!

DRESS CODE REMINDERS

Please refer to the 2019-2020 Parent Student Handbook, Administrative Policies, page 17 –18, for all Dress Code policies. This is a reminder of a few of the following inappropriate apparel:

Jeans/slacks MUST NOT have holes that expose skin in areas more than 7” above the crease behind the knee.

Shirts/tops/dresses showing midriff or are cut too low. Hats, bandanas, hoods or headgear (including headbands & sunglasses) must be removed upon entering the building. Sleeveless shirts/tops/dresses without collars or crew necks (shoulder straps less than 2 inches in

width.) Shorts, skirts, and dresses more than 7” above the crease behind the knee.

Davison Community Schools & DCER have partnered with Fleece and Thank You, a nonprofit organization that provides blankets to patients in children’s hospitals.

The Davison Fleece and Thank You event will be held May 30, at Hahn Intermediate from 12:00pm—5:00pm

Interested in community service opportunities? Think outside the box! While there are different community organizations, non profits, churches, etc.,

there are also opportunities that are less visible. Help an elderly neighbor shovel their driveway or take their yard. Maybe you are a great math student, offer to

tutor a younger student or peer. Volunteer your time at school. There are tons of opportunities to get involved and help!

If you have questions about community service or are looking for opportunities,

please see Mrs. Valliere in the Career Center.

Community Service Cords for Graduation All community service hours must be logged by April 30, 2020, in order

to receive community service cords at graduation. A graduation senior must have 120 hours logged in order to receive these cords.
