On behalf of the organizing committee, we are delighted
to invite you to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical
Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India as
distinguished faculty for DFSICON 2015, the 13th Annual
Diabetic Foot Congress scheduled to be held from 20th
November to 22nd November 2015 in Chandigarh.
DFSICON will bring together physicians, endocrinologists, surgeons,
orthotics and all stake holders in diabetic foot managementwhich will
offer anideal opportunity to sharethe current perspectives and
knowledge for diabetic foot management.PGIMER has been the pioneer
institute for research and dissemination of knowledge. Department of
Endocrinology, PGIMERhas been at the fore front for the care of foot
complications in patient with diabetes. It bestows a sense of pride that
this department has the distinction of being oldest in the country, has
kept pace with changing times by inclusion of all modern state-of art
diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for diabetic foot care.

Diabetic foot congress DFSICON 2015 being hosted by the
department of Endocrinology, PGIMER, Chandigarh from
20-22 November, 2015.

About Us
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education
and Research owes its inception to the vision of
late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief
Minister of Punjab and the distinguished
medical educationists of the then combined
state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime
Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who
considered the institutions of scientific
knowledge as temples of learning and the places
of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and
Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru
Hospital” on 7th July 1963.

Provide high quality patient care.
Attain self-sufficiency in postgraduate medical education and to
meet the country’s need for highly qualified medical teachers in all
medical and surgical fields.
Provide educational facilities for the training of personnel in all-
important branches of health activity.
Undertake basic community based research.
Prof. G K Rastogi was the founder of the
Department of Endocrinology PGIMER,
Chandigarh in 1964. It is also a matter of
proud that PGI was the first Institute in the
country, where the DM course was started
and that too was in Endocrinology. Prof. R.J.
Dash was the first trained endocrinologist in
the country and he served as a head of the
department for the next 33 years. Prof. Anil
Bhansali, who is the alumni of this Institute passed his
DM in 1990 and at present heading the department of endocrinology. So
far, 90 DM students obtained their DM degree from the department and
doing exceedingly well in India and across the world. The department
has a state of art diabetic foot lab with all modern and advanced
diagnostic facilities.
