F president’s annual report

Interfaith Social Services was blessed with a great year for fiscal 2012. The Organization was able to meet the increased needs of our clients thanks to the generosity of our donors and volunteers and the dedication of our

employees and Board, all excellently coordinated by our Executive Director, Rick Doane. We offer our humble thanks for all the effort and sacrifice.

There was a net positive cash flow for the year, which means the Organi-zation received more cash than was spent. This excess will help toward some much needed building repairs that will be made in the coming year. We look forward to 2013. We have a great Organization and we are prepared to tackle the new challenges that will come our way. We are committed to providing the best services we can and to helping the most people possible.

What an incredible year! Thousands of hungry families fed, children kept warm in a home instead of facing homelessness, suffering alleviated for our friends dealing with emotional scars. This work

is incredible; every life we touch, every family we assist helps to strengthen our community and ourselves. This is all made possible through the support we receive from donors each year. Every statistic you read and every client story you hear was made possible because you cared enough to donate to Interfaith Social Services.

Interfaith is blessed with an amazing support structure. Our volunteers, Board of Directors and staff are some of the most dedicated and compassion-ate people on the face of the Earth. Last year our volunteers donated 22,360 hours of service assisting our clients! This level of dedication and support is unparalleled.

Whether you have donated time, money, food, clothing or any other form of gifts to Interfaith, we are grateful that you are part of our team. We are anticipating another difficult year for our clients. We know that more people than ever are going to be turning to Interfaith for help. Thanks to you Inter-faith’s doors will remian open to continue assisting our neighbors in need.

Interfaith Social Services is a multiservice center for families and individuals in need, and one of Greater Boston’s largest food pantries. Since 1947 Interfaith has endeavored to strengthen

family life and offer assistance to residents of Massachusetts’ South Shore region by feeding, clothing and comforting our impoverished neighbors. Programs include:

XThePantryShelf: distributing more than 500,000 pounds of food to families and individuals on the South Shore each year.

XTheLearningPantry: educates food pantry clients about vital life skills such as financial literacy and nutrition.

XHomeSafe: provides financial assistance and homelessness prevention to families and individuals in emergency situations.

XHarvestHelpers:a community gardening initiative to supply our food pantry with fresh fruits and vegetables.

XCareerCloset: outfits low-income job seekers with free professional attire.

XNewDirections:mental health counseling for adults, children, couples, and families.

XBureauDrawer: a unique, boutique-style thrift shop open to the community, and operated entirely by volunteers, with all sales benefitting Interfaith’s programs.
