MESSAGE FROM THECHAIR OF THE BOARD

Firstly, I would like to give a big shout out to the

generous donors and volunteers that have been

so vital in 2016 with supporting their community,

especially in this time of recession and greater

need. The year was one of challenges for all

aspects of the charitable sector and through this

support, the United Way of South Eastern Alberta

has been able to not only step up support to

those in need, but to really support the United

Way funding priorities. Ensuring that children can

embrace a positive future, to move people from

poverty to possibility while giving hope and to

build healthy people and strong communities,

not only to support themselves but one another.

It’s very rewarding to be part of a unique

organization that not only supports and builds

their community but also ensures that the funds

raised for programming all stay within this very

community.

FROM POVERTY TO POSSIBILITYTHIS AREA FOCUSES ON:· Food Security· Housing Stability· Employment and Financial Literacy

When people face tough times, or longer-term poverty, they lack access to necessities of life such as food, shelter, clothing, employment, and education. Many of our communities’ most vulnerable are families and individuals who simple can’t make ends meet. United Way is working with community partners to address the roots of economic challenges, and to break the cycle of poverty for future generations, while supporting fellow community members who need help now.
