ANNUAL REPORT (Year 2018-19) “May be there is a road ahead of it, maybe there is a new world down the road, Walking forth is the only plight, because we didn’t come this far to come this far only.” A heart filled with aspirations is all that are knew since the very existence of the school and that‟s what gave us the ambition of matching forward till excellence is achieved in all endeavours. This report is comprised of the achievements made during the year gone by and the same time set the path for greater accomplishments in the years to come. ANNUAL REPORT (Year 2018-19)

“May be there is a road ahead of it, maybe there is a new world

down the road,

Walking forth is the only plight, because we didn’t come this far

to come this far only.”

A heart filled with aspirations is all that are knew since the very

existence of the school and that‟s what gave us the ambition of

matching forward till excellence is achieved in all endeavours.

This report is comprised of the achievements made during the year

gone by and the same time set the path for greater accomplishments in

the years to come.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION:

Children learn new concepts quickly in first few years .A child‟s brain

is like a sponge. It soaks up all the information it receives. School has

a responsibility towards future leaders to educate them about

environment awareness.

URPS is spread over 2 acres of lush green land in a pleasant

environment.

URPS has introduced the 3R‟s: reduce waste, reuse resources, and

recycle materials.

URPS organised three planting days at school and told students the

importance of trees. 50 trees were planted in school and nearby

areas.

URPS staff encourages children to switch off all the appliances and lights

when not in use.

Teachers take out students in parks for nature walk.

Our last year‟s annual function was totally based on resource conservation.

Students delivered choreography based on water pollution, imbalanced

ecosystem etc.

SLOGAN WRITING: Competition of slogan writing on „SAVE EARTH‟

was conducted. Students have shown their potential and concern about

environment.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: On 3rd

October, Umarians participated in

“Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.” Trees were planted and a message was

spread, “CLEAN INDIA, GREEN INDIA” by rally.

A trip to forest hill was organised on December 15, 2008 to

familiar Umarians with nature in reality. Students enjoyed hill

trekking, bird watching, camel riding etc.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES:

Uma Rana Public School participated in District Level tournament

at Fatehgarh Sahib. Under 14 boys football team won 2nd position

and under 14 girls team won 1st position. Under 18 boys handball

team got 2nd position and under18 girls football team got 1st

position under20 girls football team got3rd position in the month of

October (from 6th October to 28th October).

From 12 august to 13 august 2018,Uma Rana Public School

organised C.B.S.E School Sohadhya Competition. Chief guest of

this event were Dep.D.O Manjeet Kaur and honourable Charanjeet

Singh Gill. In this competition under 14 girl football team got 2nd

position and under 14 boys football team got 2nd position.

In the month of November (from 15th November to 16th

November,2018),Uma Rana Public School participate in C.B.S.E

School Sohadhya tournament organised.

In the month of October, Uma Rana Public School participated in

District level football tournament (from 6th October to 28th

October) under 14 boys football team got 2nd position and under

14 girls football team got 1st position on 16th and 18th October, At

District level ,under 18 boys handball team got 2nd position and 18

girls football team got 1st position on 26th to28th October under 25

girls football team go 3rd position.

In the month of November, Uma Rana Public school participate in

C.B.S.E School sohodhya tournament organised by M.A.M

Public School Samrala . under 17 boys and girls football team got

2nd position and under 19 girls football team got 1st position .

SUMMER CAMP:

Summer camp is a supervised programme for children or teenagers

conducted during the summer month (June). During this camp there

was arrangement of hobby classes like dance, music, clay modelling

etc. For physical fitness, games like football, basketball, handball,

cricket, skating were provided. On the last day, there were tug of war

competitions between boys and girls.

South Hall Football Club: This club is affiliated to the Middlesex

country football associations. Talented youngsters do practice

under supervision of Coach Mr. Tommy Taylor.

World Yoga Day was celebrated in school. Students did “YOGA”

and learnt importance of this in their life.

Girls worn under-19 handball tournament at Samrala (Sahodaya

Complex).

Boys also won under-19 (Sahodaya handball tournament).

In district handball tournament, under-19 and under-14 secured

positions.

INNOVATIONS:

The classroom is the original cultivator of true learning. Here is a

glimpse of some of the innovative techniques that teachers are trying

out to make learning effective, engaging and fun.

AUDIO-VISUAL SUPPLEMENTS: Teachers explain difficult

subjects like physics, maths and chemistry through graphical

representation of complex equations with the help of smart boards.

For language learning, the audio visual equipment‟s in an

indispensable tool.

FLIP METHODOLOGY OR CLASSROOM: Here, teachers

relegate to the role of resource or material providers via email or

internet, whereas students take the centre stage of gathering concepts,

constructing knowledge and drawing inferences.

ROLE PLAY: Students are encouraged to have their own version of

the characters they are portraying and enact them with the context of

the present time. Through role play, students of stage performance

from acting to voice projection and discover their acting talent.

PEER TEACHING: The interesting aspect of peer teaching is that

students tend to respond more actively. Students start to develop

better grasp of the concepts, display maturity, tend to be more

disciplined and also develop better communication skills.

GAMES: The play-way lessons are quite popular among students of

all grades, and a successful strategy to keep them engaged. Teachers

are experimenting with various kinds and levels of word and mind

games like quiz, puzzle-solving etc.

PTM:

Parent is a partner. His nature of nurturing brings natural and holistic

changes in the kid‟s personality. PTM is an opportunity to exchange

observation of a child with each other. It provides a wider prospect for

parents and teacher to plan, prepare and execute planning for better

learning outcome of a child. URPS discuss and share overall

personality of a child i.e. his/her behaviour, manners, habits, attitude,

learning styles, relations to self and society etc. PTM is a junction to

meet the needs of child. This year (2018-2019) PTM‟s were held on

following dates: April 28, 2018, May 31, July 25, Aug 25, Sep 29, Oct 3, Nov

24, Dec 22. While in 2019, PTM‟s were observed on Jan 31 and March 15.

SCHOOL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE IN

UMA RANA PUBLIC SCHOOL:

SMC plays an important role in the welfare of the school. Regular

meetings are held under Development Program.

SMC works for the overall development of the school. CCTV

cameras were installed in the school premises after the meeting,

which was held in the month of June, 2018.

Committee includes welfare in academics and non-academics

affairs.
