century.Hisentirelifeandcreativepowersarededicatedtoservinghomeopathy.Indecadesofteachinginternationallyhecontributedtotheworldwiderevival,recognitionanddisseminationofclassicalhomeopathy.BorninAthensin1932,heismarriedandlivesontheislandofAlonissos.He

startedstudyinghomeopathyinSouthAfricain1960andwasastudentofseveralhomeopathiccollegesinIndia.In1967GeorgeVithoulkasreturnedtoGreecefromIndiaandfoundedthe

CentreforHomeopathicMedicineinAthensin1970.Manywellknownhomeopathsreceivedtheirtheoreticalandpracticaltraininginthislargecentre.Since1976GeorgeVithoulkashasbeenteachinghomeopathsinternationally.

Hesoonbecameagloballyknownteacher,whosestudentsareinchargeofnumeroushomeopathicschoolsandclinicsinseveralcountriesaroundtheworld.IncollaborationwiththeUniversityofNamur,Belgium,GeorgeVithoulkas

starteddevelopingtheV.E.S(VithoulkasExpertSystem),asophisticatedcomputer-systemmakingintelligentsuggestionstothehomeopathforhomeopathictreatment.Thusheisalsoseenasreviverofhomeopathyandasapioneerofelectronicdataprocessinginhomeopathicpracticeandresearch.Heisthefounderandheadofthe“InternationalAcademyforClassical

Homeopathy”inAlonissos,Greece.Since1995,homeopathsfromalloverthe

worldtravelthereforhomeopathiceducationandpostgraduatestudies.

Hisnumerousbooksandarticles,amongthem“MedicinefortheNewMillennium”,“MateriaMedicaViva”,“TheScienceofHomeopathy”and“ANewModelforHealthandDisease”arewell-knownbyeveryhomeopath.Inrecognitionofhiscontributionstohomeopathyhewasawardedthe“Right

diarrhoea,chronicdiarrhoea.Everytimeshefeelsanurgeforstoolshewaitstoseeifshehasdiarrhoea.Shesays:“Oh,againdiarrhoea!Oh,oh,oh...again.”YouhavetolookattheentiremakeupofArsenicuminordertounderstand

whatIamgoingtosaynow.Arsenicumisapersonwhobelievesingoodthingsinlife.Theylikeaperfect

house.Theirhousesarebeautiful,theirclothesarebeautiful.Weseepeoplewhoarecompulsivelyfastidious,obsessedbytheneedfor

orderandcleanlinesstothepointofexpendinginordinateenergy,constantlycleaningandstraightening.AnArsenicumhousewifewillbeseenfollowingaftertheguestswhoareenteringherhouse,immediatelyre-polishingthealreadymeticulousfloorsothateventheslighteststepmarkswillnotbevisible.AnArsenicumvisitorwillgetupandstraightenapicturewhichishangingon

thewallslightlyaskew.Thissameindividualmaynotbeabletorestrainhimselffromrepositioningatableclothinarestaurantwhichisnothangingsymmetrically.Hewillspendquiteabitoftimesymmetricallyarranginghisshoelaces;otherwisehewillbebotheredbytheirasymmetry.ThisexcessivenesscharacterizestheArsenicumfastidiousness.Hispassionfororderandcleanlinesscanbesogreatthatinmorementally

disturbedcasesseriousobsessivebehaviourconcerningdirtandmicrobescan

result.Thesepeoplewillwashnotonlytheirhands,butalsotheirclothesrepeatedly.Someslightcontactwithanotherpersonmayprecipitateanintensefeelingofuncleanliness.Theirconcernaboutbeingcontaminatedmaycausethemtoavoidphysicalcontactwithothersaltogether.Theseindividualsmaysufferasimilarsenseofuncleanlinessasa

consequenceofcontractingsomephysicaldisease,especiallyaskinrash.Ifadoctortellsthem,forinstance,thattheyaresufferingfromafungalinfection,theywillimmediatelyfeeldirtyinside(theirbody)andbeginaparoxysmoffrequentbathing.Noamountofwashing,however,willeradicatethefeeling.Theyareveryeasilydisgustedbyseeingorcomingintocontactwithdirt.ThispassionforneatnesswillalsobereflectedinArsenicum’spersonal
